This work covers subjectsranging from fundamental matters to all types of lighting applications. The standards and technical reports developed bythese international Divisions of the CIE are

7、 accepted throughout the world.A plenary session is held every four years at which the work of the Divisions and Technical Committees is reviewed, reportedand plans are made for the future. The CIE is recognised as the authority on all aspects of light and lighting. As such itoccupies an important p

45、TION1.1 OverviewColour cathode-ray tubes (CRTs), also referred to as self-luminous displays, are a member ofthe class of visual display units (VDUs) that include liquid crystal, light-emitting diode, plasmaand light valves. CRTs are the dominant technology in this century being used extensively inbo

46、th broadcast television and computer-controlled visual display. Understanding therelationship between digital data and resulting radiant output is critical when these devices areused as stimulus generators for visual experiments, or to define a digital representation of animage in colour reproductio

47、n.1.2 PurposeThe purpose of this technical report is to establish the relationship between digital data andmeasured spectral radiance and CIE tristimulus values for computer-controlled CRT displays.Although this report uses the 1931 2 CIE standard observer, it also applies to the 1964 10standard obs

48、erver. In addition, recommendations will be made for instrumentationspecifications and measurement procedures that maximise colorimetric accuracy.1.3 ScopeThis technical report applies only to CRT technology. The effectiveness of the procedurescontained herein depends on certain operating characteri

49、stics of the CRT such as channeland spatial independence, and on viewing distances and refresh rates in order for CIEcolorimetry to apply to CRT stimuli. This report is intended to account for macroscopicproperties of CRT displays on the order of hundreds of pixels; corrections for spatialinhomogeneities are considered only briefly.2.
