Scope1.1 This specification covers metal insert fittings with o-ringseals and copper crimp rings for use with Cross-linked Poly-ethylene (PEX) and Cross-linked Polyethylene/Aluminum/Cross-linked Polyethylene (PEX-AL-PEX) tubing in12,34, 1and 114 in. nominal diameters that

4、 meet the requirements forSpecifications F 876 and F 2262. These fittings are intended foruse in 125 psi (861.9 kPa) (PEX-AL-PEX) and 100 psi (689.5kPa) (PEX) cold- and hot-water distribution systems operatingat temperatures up to and including 180F (82C). Included arethe requirements for materials,

5、 workmanship, dimensions,performance, and markings to be used on the fittings and rings.1.2 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regardedas the standard. The values given in parentheses are mathemati-cal conversions to SI units which are provided for informationonly and are not considered

Classification4.1 This specification covers one class of fittings and coppercrimp rings suitable for use with tubing that meets therequirements of Specifications F 876 and F 2262.5. Materials and Manufacture5.1 FittingsThe fittings shall be made

17、from one of thefollowing metals:5.1.1 Cast Copper AlloysCast copper alloy fittings shallbe made from material meeting the requirements of Specifica-tion B 584, copper alloy UNS C84400, C83800 or C89844 orSpecification B62copper alloy UNS C83600.5.1.2 Machined BrassMachined brass fittings shall bemad

18、e from material meeting the requirements of SpecificationB 140/B 140M copper alloy UNS C31400, Specification B 283copper alloy UNS C37700 or Specification B16copper alloyUNS C36000.5.1.3 Forged BrassForged brass fittings shall be madefrom material meeting the requirements of Specification B 283coppe

19、r alloy UNS C37700.5.2 Crimp RingsCrimp rings shall be made from copperUNS C10200, or C12200, and shall be black in color. Thecrimp rings shall have a minimum allowable hardness of 35and a maximum allowable hardness of 45 on the Rockwell 15Tscale when measured according to Test Methods E18.5.3 O-rin

20、gsO-rings used on the copper alloy fittings tomake a static seal shall be manufactured from ethylenepropylene rubber (EPDM) or silicone rubber (Si), with a ShoreA durometer between 60 and 70 when tested in accordancewith Specification D 2240.6. General Requirements6.1 The following sections of Speci

21、fications F 877 andF 2262 constitute a part of this specification.6.1.1 Use with PEX Tubing (F 877):6.1.1.1 Requirements,6.1.1.2 Test Methods, and6.1.2 Use with PEX-AL-PEX Tubing (F 2262):6.1.2.1 Performance Requirements of Connectors exceptproduct marking section.6.1.3 Retest and Rejection.6.2 In a

22、ddition, when a section with a title identical to thatreferenced in 6.1, appears in this specification, it containsadditional requirements that supplement those appearing inSpecifications F 877 and F 2262.6.3 DimensionsAny randomly selected fitting or fittings,and crimp ring or crimp rings, shall be

23、 used to determinedimensions. Measurements shall be made in accordance withTest Method D 2122, except determine diameters by makingmeasurements at four locations spaced approximately 45 apartaround the circumference. Inspection and gauging of solderjoint ends shall be in accordance with ASME B16.18,

24、 ASMEB16.22,orMSSSP-104.6.4 GeneralAll performance tests shall be performed onassemblies of fittings, crimp rings, PEX, and PEX-AL-PEXtubing. Fittings and crimp rings shall meet the material anddimensional requirements of this specification. PEX tubingshall meet the requirements of Specification F 8

25、76. PEX-AL-PEX tubing shall meet the requirements of SpecificationF 2262. Assembly of test specimens shall be in accordancewith 9.1.1. Use separate sets of assemblies for each perfor-mance test requirement. In addition, fittings shall be designedwith sufficient overall dimensions to allow proper use

26、 of crimptool without interference with previously completed crimps onthe same fitting.7. Dimensions7.1 Dimensions and TolerancesThe dimensions and tol-erances of fittings and crimp rings shall be as shown in Fig. 1,Fig. 3, Fig. 4, and Table 1, when measured in accordance with6.3.7.1.1 AlignmentThe

27、maximum angular variation of anyopening shall not exceed 1 off the true centerline axis.7.1.2 Fittings with Solder Joint EndsSolder joint endsshall be in accordance with ASME B16.22, ASME B16.18,orMSS SP-104.7.1.3 Tapered Threaded EndsFitting threads shall beright-hand conforming to ASME B1.20.1. Th

28、ey shall be taperthreads (NPT).8. Workmanship, Finish and Appearance8.1 The sealing surfaces of the insert shall be smooth andfree of foreign material. Fitting walls shall be free of cracks,holes, blisters, voids, foreign inclusions, or other defects thatare visible to the unaided eye, that affect t

29、he wall integrity.9. Assembly9.1 Crimp JointsInsert fittings shall be joined to PEX, orPEX-AL-PEX, tubing by the compression of a copper crimpring around the outer circumference of the tubing, forcing thetubing material into annular spaces formed by ribs on thefitting. Insert fittings and crimp ring

30、s shall meet the dimen-sional and material requirements of this standard. The dimen-sions and out-of-roundness of the crimp ring, after it has beencrimped, shall be in accordance with Table 1.9.1.1 Crimping ProcedureThe crimping procedure shallbe as follows: slide the crimp ring onto the tubing, ins

31、ert theribbed end of the fitting into the end of the tubing until thetubing contacts the shoulder of the fitting or tube stop. Thecrimp ring shall then be positioned on the tubing so the edge ofthe crimp ring is18 to14 in. (3.2 to 6.4 mm) from the end ofthe tube. The jaws of the crimping tool shall

32、be centered overthe crimp ring and the tool shall be held so that the crimpingjaws are approximately perpendicular to the axis of the barb.The jaws of the crimping tool shall be closed around the crimpring, compressing the crimp ring onto the tubing. The crimpring shall not be crimped more than once

33、. Each crimp shall bechecked to determine conformance to the after-crimped dimen-sional requirements of Table 1.F243405210.
