3、ope1.1 This specification covers zinc-coated steel structuralwire rope, prestretched or nonprestretched for use where ahigh-strength, relatively flexible prefabricated zinc-coatedmultiple-wire tension member is desired as a component partof a structure.1.2 The wire rope is furnished with Class A wei
4、ght zinc-coated wires throughout. It can be furnished with Class Bweight or Class C weight zinc-coated outer wires or Class Bweight or Class C weight zinc-coated wires throughout whereadditional corrosion protection is required.1.3 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regardedas standard.

Ordering Information4.1 Orders for material under this specification shall includethe following information:4.1.
7、1 Length of wire rope,4.1.2 Nominal diameter of wire rope (Tables 1-4),4.1.3 Prestretched (see 8.3) or nonprestretched,4.1.4 Coating-weight class if other than Class A (Table 5),4.1.5 Mechanical tests if required (see 10.1),4.1.6 Special packaging requirements (Section 13), and4.1.7 Inspection (Sect
8、ion 12).5. Materials and Manufacture5.1 Base MetalThe base metal shall be carbon steel madeby the open-hearth, basic-oxygen, or electric-furnace processand of such quality that the finished wire rope and thehard-drawn individual zinc-coated wires coated by the hot-dipor electrolytic process shall ha
9、ve the properties and character-istics as prescribed in this specification.5.2 ZincThe slab zinc when used shall conform to Speci-fication B6or better.6. Physical Properties6.1 Tensile Properties:6.1.1 The zinc-coated wire used in the wire rope shallconform to the mechanical properties in Table 6 pr
10、ior tofabrication, but the wire test sample may be prestretched to55 % of the minimum tensile strength specified in Table 6 priorto conducting the tests.6.1.2 The tensile strength and the stress at 0.7 % extensionshall be based on the actual cross-sectional area of the finishedwire, including the zi
11、nc coating.6.1.3 Test SpecimensThe test specimens shall be free ofbends or kinks other than the curvature resulting from the usualcoiling operation. The hand straightening necessary to permitinsertion of the specimen in the jaws of the testing machineshall be performed by drawing between wood blocks
12、 or bysome other equally satisfactory means.6.2 Stress at 0.7 % Extension Under LoadThe value ofstress at 0.7 % extension under load shall be determined by oneof the following procedures, depending on the type of exten-someter used:6.2.1 Non-Autographic ExtensometerWhen a non-autographic extensomete
13、r is used to measure the 0.7 % exten-sion, it shall have a gage length of 10 in.
