SCOPE 1.1 This specification covers two types of polyester tape for use in ammunition (see 6.2). 1.2 Classification. Polyester tape shall be of the following types and classes, as specified (see 6.1). T

The following documents form a part of this specification to
6、 the extent specified herein. Unless otherwise indicated, the issue in effect on date of invitation for bids or requests for proposal shall apply. 7、ety for Testing and Materials, 1916 Race Street, Philadelphia Penn., 19103). 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Material. The polyester tape shall be polyethylene terephthalate and shall meet the following requirements. 3.1.1 Type I. The Type I material shall be a tape made with continuous filament polyester yarns
8、 properly processed and of a suitable denier, filament, and twist to meet the requirements of this specification. 3.1.2 Type II. The Type II material shall be a tape made with spun polyester yarns properly processed and of a suitable denier, staple length and twist to meet the require- ments of this
9、 specification. 3.1.3 Specific Gravity. The specific gravity of the tape shall be 1.38 t .O2 when determined as specified in 4.4.1. 3.1.4 Solubility. The physical properties for polyester tape shall comply with Table I when determined as specified in the applicable paragraph of Section 4.4.3 through 4.4.6. 12、low 35 lbs/inch permitted. Type II - No single break below 150 lbs/inch permitted. 3.1.6 Acidity or alkalinity 3.1.6.1 pH of water extract. The pH of the water extract of the tape shall be not less than 4.4 nor more than 9.7 when tested as specified in 4.4.7. 3.1.6.2 Acidity or alkalinity. The water
13、 extract of the tape shall show not more than 0.1 percent acidity, calculated as acetic acid, nor more than 0.1 percent alkalinity, calculated as sodium carbonate when tested as specified in 4.4.8. when tested as specified in 4.4.9. 3.1.7 Ash. The content of ash shall be 2.0 percent max 3.2 First ar
14、ticle testing. This specification makes provisions for first article testing. Requirements for the submission of first article sample by the contractor shall be as specified in the contract. 4. Th
16、e sample shall be accompanied by certificates of analysis. A first article quantity, or portion thereof, as directed by the Contracting Officer, shall also be submitted whenever there is a lapse in production for a period in excess of 90 days, or whenever a change occurs in manufacturing process, ma
17、terial used, drawing, specifi- cation or source of supply as to significantly affect production uniformity as determined by the Government. Prior to submission, the contractor shall inspect the sample to the degree necessary to assure that it conforms to the requirements of the contract and submit a
18、 record of this inspection with the sample. A sample containing known defects will not be submitted unless specifically authorized by the Contracting Officer. 4.2.2 Inspections to be performed. The sample will be subjected by the Government to any or all of the examinations or tests specified in 4.4
19、 of this specification. of the applicable requirements, the first article quantity shall be rejected. The Government reserves the right to terminate its inspection upon any failure of a sample to comply with any of the stated requirements. 4.2.3 Rejection. If any sample fails to comply with any 4.3
20、inspection provisions 4.3.1 Lot formation.-The term “inspection lot“ as used in this specification is defined as an essentially homogeneous col- lection of units of product from which a representative sample is drawn and inspected to dekermine conformance with applicable requirements. The sample sel
21、ected shall represent only that quantity of units from which the sample was drawn and shall not be construed to represent any prior or subsequent quantities pre- sented for inspection. Homogeneity shall be considered to exist provided the inspection lot has been produced by one manufacturer in one u
22、nchanged process using the same materials and methods, with the same specifications and same specification revisions and complies with the provisions for submission of product as specified in MIL-STD-105. Changes to the process, specifications, not affecting safety, performance, interchangeability,
23、or storage, as determined by the Government, shall not be deemed to alter the homogeneity of an inspection lot. Examination of the end item shall be in accordance with 4.3.2.1 t
