This commercial item description (CID) establishes the government acquisition requirements for prilled ammonium nitrate to be used as a nitrating agent in explosives. 2. SKIENT CH

3、ARACTERISTICS 2.1 Composition The prilled ammonium nitrate supplied shall be a white, fi-ee-flowing material and shall be free fi-om dirt, oil, grease, or any visible impurity. The chemical composition of the ammonium nitrate shall meet the requirements of table I when the supplied product is tested

When tested in accordance with American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) B 214, “Standard Test Method for Sieve Analysis of Metal Powders“ (D

7、oD adopted), at least 99.9 percent by weight of any selected test specimen shall pass through a 6.3-millimeter (6300 micron) sieve. The sieves used shall comply with either ASTM E 11, “Standard Specification for Wire Cloth and Sieves for Testing Purposes“ (DoD adopted), or ASTM E 323, “Standard Spec

8、ification for Perforated-Plate Sieves for Testing Purposes“ (DoD adopted). 3. REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Material safety data sheet (MSDS). The product manufacturer shall prepare and submit an MSDS meeting the requirements of FED-STD-3 13, “Material Safety Data, Transportation Data and Disposal Dat

9、a for Hazardous Materials Furnished to Government Activities“, and Part 1910.1200 of Title 29 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR). 4. PRODUCT CONFORMANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Product conformance. The ammonium nitrate provided shall meet the salient characteristics requirements of this commercial item descri

10、ption, conform to the producers own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices, and be the same product offered for sale on the commercial marketplace. The government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance. 4.2 Market acceptability. The product offered must

11、 have been previously sold either to the government or on the commercial market. 5. PACKAGING 5.1 m.
