4、ices A National Standard of Canada (approved January 2001) Blank pageThe Canadian Standards Association (CSA), under whose auspices this National Standard has been produced, was chartered in 1919 and accredited by the Standards Council of Canada to the National Standards system in 1973. It is a not-

5、for-profit, nonstatutory, voluntary membership association engaged in standards development and certification activities. CSA standards reflect a national consensus of producers and users including manufacturers, consumers, retailers, unions and professional organizations, and governmental agencies.

6、 The standards are used widely by industry and commerce and often adopted by municipal, provincial, and federal governments in their regulations, particularly in the fields of health, safety, building and construction, and the environment. Individuals, companies, and associations across Canada indic

7、ate their support for CSAs standards development by volunteering their time and skills to CSA Committee work and supporting the Associations objectives through sustaining memberships. The more than 7000 committee volunteers and the 2000 sustaining memberships together form CSAs total membership from

8、 which its Directors are chosen. Sustaining memberships represent a major source of income for CSAs standards development activities. The Association offers certification and testing services in support of and as an extension to its standards development activities. To ensure the integrity of its ce

9、rtification process, the Association regularly and continually audits and inspects products that bear the CSA Mark. In addition to its head office and laboratory complex in Toronto, CSA has regional branch offices in major centres across Canada and inspection and testing agencies in eight countries.

Scope 1.1 General This Standard provides requirements for the design, manufacture, construction, modification, erection and dismantling, operation, inspection, test

40、ing, and maintenance of amusement devices and rides. Where any Clause of this Standard is at variance with the referenced Codes and Standards, the requirements of this Standard govern. The requirements of this Standard are adequate under conditions normally encountered in the industry. Requirements

41、for abnormal or unusual conditions are not specifically provided, nor are all details of engineering and construction prescribed. For the purpose of this Standard, the term “amusement ride“ or “ride“ includes amusement devices. 1.2 Additional Guidelines This Standard also provides non-mandatory guid

42、elines for (a) water slides (Appendix A); and (b) go-karts (Appendix B). 1.3 Existing Amusement Rides or Devices For an existing amusement ride or device, the requirements provided by this Standard for operation, maintenance, testing, modification, erection and dismantling, if applicable, and inspec

43、tion apply. Note: Existing equipment instal1ed in compliance with previous editions of this Standard may not comply with the new design requirements. 1.4 Exceptions In case of novel design, or new configurations that cannot be precisely classified, or cases of reported nonconformance, exceptions fro

44、m the requirement may be made, provided that equivalent safety is provided. 1.5 Exemptions This Standard does not apply to (a) amusement devices or rides that are designed and used as coin-operated devices or rides; (b) passenger ropeways conforming to CSA Standard CAN/CSA-Z98; (c) elevating devices

45、 conforming to CSA Standard CAN/CSA-B44; (d) childrens playspaces and equipment conforming to CSA Standard Z614; (e) soft contained play systems conforming to ASTM Standard F 1918, other than stand-alone air supported structures; (f) amusement devices operated by muscular power; (g) recoil tethered

The values given in parentheses are for information only. 2. Definitions The following definitions apply in this Standard: Accepted engineerin

47、g practice - a practice that conforms to accepted principles, tests, or standards of nationally recognized technical or scientific authorities. Air-supported structure - an amusement device that incorporates a structural and mechanical system and employs a high-strength fabric or film that achieves

48、its strength, shape, and stability by pre-tensioning with internal air pressure, all of which are intended to provide an enclosed area for the enjoyment of those within. Amusement ride (amusement device) - a device or combination of devices or elements that carries, conveys, or directs a person over

49、 or through a fixed or restricted course or within a defined area, for the purpose of amusement or entertainment. Control access system - a device, barrier, or mechanism that prohibits unauthorized activation of a ride or device control system. Inspector - a person who, through education, experience, and training, is able to properly evaluate an amusement ride or device to determine its conformance with this Standard. Installation - the act of on-site construction or the physical setting up and making ready for use of a ride or device. Major
