Beforeaparticularweldingprocedureisusedinaproductionoperation,themanufacturershoulddetermineand documentthesuitabi

23、lityoftheWeldingProcedureSpecification(WPS)toproduceaweldoftherequiredquality. Todatethesuitabilityofweldingprocedureshasbeenestablishedforweldmentsaspartofthequalityassurance activity.Untilnow,establishingthesuitabilityofweldingproceduresbyweldproceduretestingwascarriedoutand documentedonlyforweldm

24、entsinvolvingsafetyandthepublicinterest.TheEuropeanharmonisationofthe provisionforweldingproceduretestsiscurrentlybeingsoughtbymeansofEuropeanStandards.Inthisway greaterconfidencewillbegeneratedforthecustomerbythemanufacturer. Itdefinestheconditionsfortheexecutionofweldingprocedurequalificationtestsandthelimitsofvalidityofa qualifiedweldingprocedureforallpracticalweldingoperat

Thequalitylevelnecessaryineachcaseshouldbespecifiedbyth

38、eapplicationstandardortheresponsible designer. 6 Testpiece 6.1General Theassemblytowhichtheelectronorlaserbeamweldingprocedureappliesinproductionmayberepresentedby oneormorestandardizedtestpiecesasdefinedin6.2. 6.2Shapeanddimensionsoftestpieces Thetestpiecesshallbeofsufficientsizetoensureanadequateh

39、eatdistributionandfortheapplicationofnon destructiveand/ordestructivetests. Thetestpieceshallbedesignedtorepresent,asfaraspossible,thecomponentandjointgeometryandshallbe specified. Oneormoreadditionaltestpiecesoralongertestpiecethantheminimumsize,maybeusedinordertoallowfor extraand/orforretestingspe

40、cimens,accordingto7.5. Forplatematerial,theprincipaldirectionofrollingshallbemarkedonthetestpiece,ifrequestedbytheapplication standardorthespecification.
