The goal is to assistpaintball field operators in run

3、ning a safe business. Like any other physical activity, paintball presentsa potential for injury. No procedural practice can prevent all injuries, especially when paintball playersdo not follow safety instructions. The ultimate responsibility for preventing injury lies with thepaintball player. This

4、 practice, however, intends to promote safe paintball field operation throughstandardization of operating practice.1. Scope1.1 This practice establishes minimum safety requirementsfor the operation of paintball playing fields, and provides forcertain materials and procedures required.2. Referenced D

Terminology3.1 Definitions of Terms Specific to This Standard:3.1.1 bulk cylinder, na gas storage vessel used to fill gaspropellant vessels on paintball markers.3.1.2 burst-mode marker, na burst mode

6、marker maydischarge two or more times per trigger cycle or may dischargetwo or more times with the pull and release of the trigger.3.1.3 discharge mode, na mode that controls the numberof paintballs discharged per trigger cycle.3.1.4 ear protection, ndevices that cover the ear cavitiesand prevent di

7、rect entry of paintballs into the ear canals.3.1.5 enhanced trigger marker, na paintball marker thatat some point discharges more than one paintball per triggercycle. This includes markers that “store” the number of triggerpulls and discharge more than one paintball at some point.3.1.6 filling appar

8、atus, nequipment used to properly fillgas propellant vessels on paintball markers from bulk cylin-ders.3.1.7 fully automatic paintball marker, na marker thatdischarges when the triggering device is actuated and continuesto discharge until the trigger returns to its reset or recycleposition.3.1.8 gam

9、e area, nan area in which paintball games areconducted and in which paintball goggles are required to beworn.3.1.9 goggles, nconsist of eye protection devices thatcomply with Specification F 1776 and have ear and faceprotection integrated into the design.3.1.10 goggles on area, nareas in which all p

10、ersons arerequired to wear paintball goggles, such as and not limited toplaying fields, game areas, chronograph areas, and targetranges.3.1.11 paintball marker, na device specifically designedto discharge paintballs. The device is sometimes referred to asa paintball gun.3.1.12 player, na paintball g

11、ame participant3.1.13 playing field, nan area delineated by a boundarymarker, in which paintball games are conducted.3.1.14 pump marker, na marker that requires the operatorto manually cock or engage the sear of the marker before eachshot by a means of a pump, bolt, lever, cocking handle orsimilar d

An electronic on/off switch is consid-ered to be a safety mechanism if, when the switch is placed inthe off position, it renders the marker inoperable.3.1.16 semi-automatic marker, na semi-automatic markerdisch

16、arges one time with each trigger cycle. Markers that“store” the number of trigger pulls and discharge more thanone paintball at some point to not meet this definition. Markersthat operate in other discharge mode(s) do not meet thisdefinition.3.1.17 staging area, nan area protected against stray entr

17、yof paintballs, in which paintball players organize themselvesfor a game.3.1.18 trigger cycle, nthe movement of the triggerthrough discharge and returning to a resent or recycle position.4. Operational Procedures4.1 Safety Rules PostedPlayer safety rules, printed in12-point type or larger, shall be

18、posted conspicuously at theregistration area. Every player shall be instructed to read thesafety rules.4.2 Field Orientation and Safety BriefingPrior to theirfirst game of the day, every player shall be given a formalbriefing on safety rules, risk of injury, game rules, fieldorientation, and equipme

19、nt operation.4.3 Barrel Plug RegulationAll players shall be required tohave paintball marker barrels blocked with a device specifi-cally designed for that purpose at all times other than while onthe playing field during games, at the chronograph, or at thetarget range.4.4 Eye, Ear, and Face Protecti

20、onAll persons shall berequired to wear ear protection and paintball goggles with fullface protection at all times while they are in areas designatedas “goggles on areas.” The goggles shall be designed specifi-cally for use in paintball games, shall not be obviously alteredfrom the original manufactu

21、red design in a manner notprescribed by the manufacturer, and shall comply with Speci-fication F 1776 and by January 1, 2005 shall bear the ProtectiveEyewear Certification Council seal.4.5 Chronographing ProceduresAll paintball markersshall be chronographed. All field rental paintball markers shallb

22、e chronographed daily prior to being used at the field. Allother paintball markers shall be chronographed at the fieldprior to being used on the field. Paintball marker velocitiesshall be adjusted so as to not exceed 300 ft/s.4.6 Required Signs:4.6.1 The following signs shall be posted conspicuously

23、:4.6.1.1 “Goggles On” signs shall be posted at the exits ofthe staging area along routes to the playing fields, and at theentrances to any other areas that paintball marker dischargemight be permitted.4.6.1.2 “Barrel Plugs” signs shall be posted at the exits fromthe playing fields, chronograph area,

24、 target range, and any-where else that paintball marker discharge might be permitted.4.6.1.3 “Paintball Game Area, Eye Protection Required”signs shall be posted at locations where unauthorized directaccess to the playing fields is likely by outsiders not familiarwith the sport.4.7 Emergency Continge

25、ncy PlanEmergency procedures,printed in 12-point or larger type shall be posted and a first-aidkit readily available at the field.4.8 Adequate Judges During GamesAt least one refereeshall be present on every indoor paintball playing field.At leasttwo referees shall be present on every outdoor paintb

26、all playingfield. There also shall be a minimum of one referee on everypaintball playing field for every 15 players.4.9 Fill StationBulk cylinders shall be secured properly toprevent falling over, during storage and during use. A scaleshall be used to ensure against CO2overfills beyond theDepartment

27、 of Transportation allowed capacity. All gas fillingapparatus and procedures shall meet OSHA requirements, aswell as Compressed Gas Association requirements for thehandling of compressed gasses.4.10 Adequate Spectator Provisions and Staging AreaAreas in which spectators are permitted to observe pain

28、tballgames without goggles and player staging areas shall beprotected against paintball entry. These areas shall be designedin a manner or location such that stray paintballs cannot enterfrom other areas, such as playing fields, target areas, orchronograph areas. Staging areas may be protected by am

29、inimum of 300 ft of open space by natural growth whichprevents paintball penetration or by a barrier which preventspaintball penetration.4.11 Game Area:4.11.1 Game areas require the following:4.11.1.1 Boundaries of all outdoor paintball playing fieldsshall be marked clearly and continuously with rop

30、e, tape, orother highly visible material.4.11.1.2 Areas with hidden dangers such as water, cliffs, orsharp objects shall be roped off, posted, or plainly identified.4.11.1.3 Playing fields shall be free of barbed wire, brokenglass, and other dangerous litter.4.11.1.4 Floor surfaces of indoor paintba

31、ll playing fieldsshall be maintained in a manner which provides adequatetraction.4.12 Paintball Markers:4.12.1 Any paintball markers used by a player shall haveworking safety mechanisms.4.12.2 Paintball markers operating in other than semi-automatic or pump discharge modes are not to be allowed onth

32、e playing field. Paintball markers that are capable of operat-ing in other than semi-automatic or pump discharge modesshall be allowed on the playing field so long as such markersare set to discharge in semi-automatic or pump dischargemodes prior to and while being used on the field of play. Theposs

33、ession of any tools while on the playing field, or disas-sembly of the marker, that allow the discharge mode to bechanged shall be prohibited. The changing, while on the field,of the discharge mode to anything other than semi-automatic orpump discharge modes shall be prohibited. The intent of thispr

34、ovision is to ensure that markers in use on a playing fieldshall be set to operate in semi-automatic or pump dischargemodes, and not to prohibit the use of a marker on a playingfield that may otherwise be capable of operating in other thansemi-automatic or pump discharge modes.F17770224.12.3 Trigger

35、 guards shall be mandatory on all paintballmarkers used by players. The trigger guard must be of rigidconstruction and be rigidly affixed to the marker.4.13 Velocity Adjusting RegulationPlayers shall be in-formed that the possession of paintball marker velocity adjust-ing tools while on the playing

36、field is prohibited.5.
