、Designation: D 3705 86 (Reapproved 2003)e1An American National StandardStandard Test Method forMisting Properties of Lubricating Fluids1This standard is issued under the fixed designation D 3705; the number immediately following the designation indicates the year oforiginal adoption or, in the case
、of revision, the year of last revision. A number in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval. Asuperscript epsilon (e) indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.e1NOTEWarning notes were editorially moved into the standard text in June 2003.1. Scope1.1 This test met
、hod covers the determination of the mistingcharacteristics of lubricating fluids.NOTE 1This test method should not be used to evaluate fluidscontaining solid additives such as graphite.1.2 This standard does not purport to address all of thesafety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the

、Number of LubricatingOils2D 235 Specification for Mineral Spirits (Petroleum Spirits)(Hydrocarbon Dry Cleaning Solvent)33. Summary of Test Method3.1 The mist generator is charged with oil and installed inthe mist system. The unit is operated for 19 h; the mistgenerator, line condensate bottles, and
、reclassified oil collectorare weighed before and after the test. The output from thegenerator and percentages of reclassified oil, line condensate, and stray mist are determined from changes in weight.NOTE 2Line condensate is the commonly accepted term used todescribe the oil that coalesces in the mi
、st distribution lines. In this test, theoil that coalesces in the 38-mm (112-in.) tubing and the diagonal 19-mm(34-in.) tubing is collected and weighed as line condensate. Oil thatcoalesces in the vertical 19-mm (34-in.) tubing becomes part of thereclassified oil.4. Significance and Use4.1 This test
