Scope*1.1 This specification covers requirements, test methods,assembly, and methods of marking for chlorinated poly(vinylchloride) plastic hot- and cold-water distribution system com-ponents made in one standard dimension ratio and intended forwater service up to and incl
4、uding 180F (82C). These com-ponents comprise pipe and tubing, socket-type fittings, streetfittings, plastic-to-metal transition fittings, solvent cements,and adhesives. Requirements and methods of test are includedfor materials, workmanship, dimensions and tolerances, hydro-static sustained pressure
5、 strength, and thermocycling resis-tance. The components covered by this specification areintended for use in residential and commercial, hot and cold,potable water distribution systems.1.2 The products covered by this specification are intendedfor use with the distribution of pressurized liquids on
6、ly, whichare chemically compatible with the piping materials. Due toinherent hazards associated with testing components and sys-tems with compressed air or other compressed gases somemanufacturers do not allow pneumatic testing of their products.Consult with specific product/component manufacturers
7、fortheir specific testing procedures prior to pneumatic testing.NOTE 1Pressurized (compressed) air or other compressed gasescontain large amounts of stored energy which present serious safteyhazards should a system fail for any reason.1.3 The text of this specification references notes, footnotes,an
8、d appendixes which provide explanatory material. Thesenotes and footnotes (excluding those in tables and figures) shallnot be considered as requirements of the specification.1.4 The values stated in either SI units or inch-pound unitsare to be regarded separately as standard. The values stated ineac
9、h system may not be exact equivalents; therefore, eachsystem shall be used independently of the other. Combiningvalues from the two systems may result in non-conformancewith the standard.NOTE 2Suggested hydrostatic design stresses and hydrostatic pressureratings for pipe, tubing, and fittings are li
10、sted in Appendix X1. Design andinstallation considerations are discussed in Appendix X2.
