Scope*1.1 This specification covers requirements, test methods,and methods of marking for chlorinated poly(vinyl chloride)plastic hot- and cold-water distribution system componentsmade in one standard dimension ratio and intended
4、 for waterservice up to and including 180F (82C). These componentscomprise pipe and tubing, socket-type fittings, street fittings,plastic-to-metal transition fittings, solvent cements, and adhe-sives. Requirements and methods of test are included formaterials, workmanship, dimensions and tolerances,
5、 hydro-static sustained pressure strength, and thermocycling resis-tance. The components covered by this specification areintended for use in residential and commercial, hot and cold,potable water distribution systems.1.2 The products covered by this specification are intendedfor use with the distri
6、bution of pressurized liquids only, whichare chemically compatible with the piping materials. Due toinherent hazards associated with testing components and sys-tems with compressed air or other compressed gases somemanufacturers do not allow pneumatic testing of their products.Consult with specific
7、product/component manufacturers fortheir specific testing procedures prior to pneumatic testing.NOTE 1Pressurized (compressed) air or other compressed gasescontain large amounts of stored energy which present serious safteyhazards should a system fail for any reason.1.3 The text of this specificatio
8、n references notes, footnotes,and appendixes which provide explanatory material. Thesenotes and footnotes (excluding those in tables and figures) shallnot be considered as requirements of the specification.1.4 The values stated in either SI units or inch-pound unitsare to be regarded separately as s
9、tandard. The values stated ineach system may not be exact equivalents; therefore, eachsystem shall be used independently of the other.
