REQUIREIUIENTS 30i Mat

11、erial. - All materials used in the manufacture of the Martin-Baker Aircraft Ejection Seat cartridges shall conform strictly with the specifications referred to on the respective HJORD Specification Control Dradngs unless specific approval in writing covering a departure therefrom has been obtained f

12、rom the Bureau of Ordnance prior to manufacture, When alternate materials or methods of manufacture are specified on the drawings, the bidderrs selections shall be clearly stated in the proposal, Pilot Production Lot. - Unless otherwise specified by the procuring activity, a pilot production lot of

14、 (Nord) 3,Z P.rimer Caps, - The primers shall be furnished from lots manufactured within a year past, 3,2,l Primer Sensitivity. - Sensitivity of the primers shall fall within the limits prescribed in 4,b.l. 3.2.2 X-ray, = All primers shall be x-rayed and screened for defects as outlined in 4.4.2, 3.

15、2.3 Weight, - Primers shall have weights as prescribed in 4.4e3. . 3.3 Head and Primer Assembly. - The head and primer assembly shall not leak when tested inaccordance with 4.4.40 3e4 Charges. - 3 .4.J Weighing. - All propellant charges and ignition charges shall be weighed and the weights verified

16、by another operator, 3.4,2 Black Powder. = The moisture content of the black powder at the time of loading shall be less than 0.90 percent as determined by the test procedure of 4,4.5. 3,4.3 Smokeless Powder, - Smokeless powder shall not be subjected to unnecessary handling or exposure to the atmosp

17、here, Inspect for signs of decomposition as outlined in paragraphs 1308 - 1318 and i322 of OP 5. The inspector should familiarize himself with Chapter 18 of OP 5 llAmmuni- tion Ashore“ and conduct tests to determine that the smoke- less powder to be used in cartridges does not differ appreciably fro

18、m the condition as received, 3e5 Complete Cartridges. - The complete cartrid es shall be free of the visible defects noted in 4,4, % , 3.5.1 Yeight. - There shall be no appreciable differ- ence in weight of cartridges, see 4.4,7, 3.5.2 Leakage. - There shall be no leakage of air in the completed car

20、4,4.9.1, 3.6.2 Drogue Gun Cartridges. - Drogue gun cartridges shall function properly when subjected to test prescribed in i+.4.9.2. 3.603 4.4.9.3. Misfire. - There shall be no misfires, see 306.4 Hangfires, - There shall be no hangfires, see 4.4.9.4. 3.7 Workmanship. - Cartridges shall be construct

21、ed and finished in a .manner to assure compliance with all reyuire- ments of this specification. Particular attention should be paid to dimensions, one primary cartridge (BUORD Dwg. No, 1669360), two auxil- iary cartridges (BUORD Dwg. No. 1669361) and one drogue cartridge (BUORD.Dwg. No. 1669362). 3

22、.8 Cartridge Kit, - A cartridge kit shall consist of 4. 26、 the contractor to the procuring activity, or to the activity designated by the procuring activity, for test, These cartridges shall be manufactured by the same procedures and at the same location proposed by the contractor for the execution of the contract. When a pilot production lot is received w

27、hich complies with all test and sampling requirements of this document and the applicable drawings, the contractor will be notified and authorized to proceed with production. When production under a new contract immediately follows the manufacture of satisfactory material, a pilot production lot wil

28、l not be requirede 4.2.3 Production Lot, - A production lot shall consist of 500 cartridge kits plus 50 required for tests, of which twenty kits will be used by the Government Inspector, in lot acceptance test conducted at the contractors? activity as prescribed by 3.6, and thirty kits shall be deli

29、vered to any location designated by the procuring activity for test, The cartridge kits of a lot shall be of consecutive manufacture. The production lot shall be used for delivery and identification of cartridge kits and is not necessarily related to the inspection lot defined in l+,2,lS 4,3. Inspec

30、tion. - 4.3e1 Contractors Inspection, - The contractor shall determine. bv whatever means or methods he desires and to the exteni necessary, that all supplies and services and parts thereof offered for government acceptance or delivery conform with the requirements of the contra.ct and with all asso

31、ciated applicable documents. 4.3.1.1 Gages, - The contractor shall provide himself. with whatever gages are necessary and adequate to insure that the material to which this specification applies will meet the dimensional requirements shown on the applicable drawings. If so stipulated in the contract

34、components and assemblies by Kavy Final Inspection Gages, 4.3.2 Government Inspection. - The Government Inspector shall, during the process of manufacture, assembly and loading, make such inspection and tests as necessary to insure that components, assemblies and cartridges are in accordance.with th

35、e terms of the contract, the order or requisition and the applicable drawings and specifications. Unless otherwise designated herein, inspection and dis- position of material shall be governed by Bureau of Ordnance OP 400, General Instructions for the Design, Nanufacture and Inspection of Naval Ordn

For Navy explosives loading plznts, the provisions of the Armed Services Explosives Safety Board covering quantity-distance regulations for explosives, shall apply. 6.5 All explosives and completely or partially loaded 6.6. Proper care should be exercised at all ti

40、mes to protect personnel from accidents, fires or explosions, - -4 and to limit damage to equipment and loading areas. In this connection, the following precautionary measures should be observed: 6,6.i Employ properly proportioned and-properly located protective barricades, screens or shields at all

42、 9 9 MIL-C- 22016( Nord) 6.6.3 Keep explosives and explosive parts in a.pproved covered receptacles with covers in place when material is not being taken out of or put into the receptacles. Where necessary, recept,acles should be conductive to ground electrostatic charges. . 6.6,rS. Protect operatio

43、ns from electrostatic charges by effectively grounding all machinery, equipment , and fixtures; and, where necessary, ernploy suitab1,e grounded coiiductive coverings for floors, ,work benches and tables, and workers conductive shoes. Workers clothing of a type to minimize the accumulation of static

44、 charges should be employed. which promote static generation should be avoided. Addi- tional grounding devices such as grounded bracelets for workers should be employed where operations are conducted with items which are unusually sensitive to initiation by static electricity. Such items include ini

45、tiating explosives, tracer mixtures, and low-energy type electric primers, detonators and squibs. The latter types of items should have the free ends of lead wires bared and twisted together, and be packed in relatively small groups wrepped in bare non-insulated aluminum foil or other uncoated metal

46、 foil. ing operations such sensitive electric items should be short circuited by clips or other devices until installed with safety shunt in the final device, cautions for these items should include mechanical shielding to contain or deflect fragrrients 2nd blast, also electrical shielding of these

47、items from induced electric currents generated by sources such as lightning, static, radiations from communications apparatus, radar, or high frequency heating apparatus, etc. Where necessary for safety, humidity (See para. 604.4) of work rooms should be increased, as required to lessen electrostati

48、c effects without excessive moisture absorption. Protect ali explosive operations from effects of electric current originating from equipmGnt such as soldering irons, heaters, switches, wiring, motors, lights, tesi; instruments, etc., by suitable insulation, grounding, separation or shielding. Such

49、electric sources may initiate explosives by heat, sparks, arcs, or by completing an electric circuit through an electric primer, detonator, or squib. Circuits may be inadvert- ently completed, for example, from a defective electric soldering iron through a grounded contact.
