2、st 1, 1994 COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION RAKE, “AND (Garden and Lawn) The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description (CID) as a replacement for Federal Specification GGG-R-96 which has been canceled. 1. SCOPE 1.1 ScoDe. This commercial item description c
3、overs garden rakes suitable for raking and smoothing soil, and lawn rakes suitable for raking grass clippings and leaves from lawns. 2. CLASSIFICATION 2.1 Classification. The rakes shall be of the following types, classes, composition, and sizes as specified (see 7.2) : Type I - Garden Rake Class A

The type I garden rake shall be designed for raking and smoothing soil. 3.2.1 Class A. Bo w. The head and bow sha
5、ll be forged in one piece from steel. The bow shall be of circular cross-section. The head design shall be similar to figure 1. with using the top of thehead for leveling soil. contain 14 to 16 teeth and be a minimum of 13-1/2 inches (34.3 cm) in width. The head shall have a minimum depth of 2-3/4 i

7、ll have a single central shank which shall be forced into the handle and reinforced with a ferrule. The shank shall be so arranged as not to interfere with the use of the top of the head for leveling soil. The head shall contain 14 to 16 teeth and be a minimum of 14 inches (35.6 cm) in width. 8、ad shall have a minimum depth of 3 inches (7.6 cm) . The rake handle shall be a . minimum of 65 inches (1.65 m) in length. Lawn rakes shall be suitable for raking grass
12、clippings, leaves, twigs, and litter from lawns without injury to the grass or roots. The type II, composition S (steel tines) rakes shall have flexible heads consisting of strips of flat spring steel with the bent end forming the head and tines, a handle, and a ferrule or socket suitable for securi
13、ng the head to the handle. consist of a plastic resin body with spring steel tines. Type II, composition P (plastic tines) rakes shall be similar except the entire rake head shall be made from plastic. The plastic shall be a minimum of 95 percent recycled material. The ferrule or socket shall have a
14、 hole suitable for securing the handle by means of a common rivet, screw, or bolt with nut. The handle shall fit tightly within the ferrule or socket. The rake head may 3.3.1 Class A, Radial head, Composition S. The class A, composition S rake shall be similar to figure 4. The tines forming the head
15、 shall be separated at the raking end, grouped together and securely fastened to a steel ferrule at the handle end. The ferrule shall extend over the handle. The head of the rake shall have a steel spreader bar attached to the tines in a fixed position 1 at all times. The spreader bar shall be locat
16、ed between the tips of the tines and the ferrule. The head shall measure a minimum of 17 inches (43.2 cm) in width and have a minimum of 18 tines. The class A, composition P rake shall be similar to figure 4. The tines formi the head shall be separated at the raking end and joined together at the base of
18、 the head. The molded rake head shall include a ferrule which extends over the handle. The head shall measure a minimum of 22 inches (55.9 m) in width and have a minimum of 21 tines. The rake handle shall be a minimum of 46 inches (1.17 m) in length. 3.3.3 Class B, Semiradial head. to figure 5. raki
