SCOPEThe material defined by this specification is an uncured elastomericmater
2、ial which expands upon exposure to heat, and can be used attemperatures ranging from 8 min at 171 C to 30 min at 218 C. Thismaterial is normally in die cut or extruded form. This material can besupplied with or without a pressure sensitive adhesive coating or arelease liner.2. APPLICATIONThe specifi
3、cation was released originally for material used in the bodyshop area for sealing openings in sheet metal areas.The material can be supplied with or without an aggressive pressuresensitive adhesive which promotes adhesion to oiled CRLC steel,galvanized steel and steel-sheet, zinc rich primer coated
4、substrates.This sealer has good phosphate wash resistance properties. The materialexpands during the electrocoat bake schedules noted per para 5.3.Materials meeting this performance specification are identified on theCorporate Approved Source List.Compliance with this performance specification does
5、not guarantee thesealer will function for all potential applications on a vehicle. Thespecific design condition should be evaluated by Car Engineering NVH foracoustical properties and a plant trial or laboratory simulation prior torelease of this material.3. REQUIREMENTS3.1 STATISTICAL PROCESSSuppli
6、ers must conform to the requirements of Ford Quality SystemStandard Q-101. A mutually acceptable Control Plan as describedtherein is required for material/source approval. Appropriatestatistical tools must be used to analyze process/product data sothat variation in the final product is continuously
7、reduced.3.2 INFRARED SPECTROPHOTOMETRY AND/OR THERMAL ANALYSISFord Motor Company, at its option, may conduct infrared and/orthermal analysis of material/parts supplied to this specification.The IR spectra and thermograms established for initial approvalshall constitute the reference standard and sha
8、ll be kept on fileat the designated material laboratory. 9、rein are based on materials conditionedin a controlled atmosphere of 23 +/- 2 C and 50 +/- 5 % relativehumidity for 24 h prior to testing and tested under the samecontrolled conditions.3.4 DIMENSIONS As specified on engineeringdrawing and/or in trim and SealerManual3.5 VOLUME EXPANSION, min(FLTM BV

Prepare two assemblies and
11、condition at 23 +/- 2 C for 1 h. Prepare six test assemblies as shown in Fig 1. Use 1.0 - 1.1 mmCRLC steel oiled. Cure three sampl
12、es at each of the bake schedules indicated inpara 5.3. Allow samples to cool to 23 +/- 2 C for 1 h minimum. Calculate the percent expansion as the relationship between themaximum expanded thickness of the cured material (dimension “X“- Fig 1) and the uncured thickness of the original sample (“T“).X
13、- TPercent Expansion = x 100T. Using a hot knife disassemble test samples by cutting the curedsealer along the surface of panel A - Fig 1. The cured sealershall be resilient to the touch and exhibit a uniform cellstructure.3.9 ADHESION CHARACTERISTICSTest Method: Apply two 200 mm length ribbons of m
14、aterial to eachof two 0.89 x 100 x 300 mm steel panels per para 5.3 and conditionpanels at 23 C +/- 2 C for 1 h. Bake one panel at each materialscure schedule per para 5.3. Position panels in a horizontalattitude during material bake. After bake, condition panels at 23+/- 2 C for 4 h min. Evaluate a
15、dhesion by inserting the top of asharp spatula under the end of the material strip. Grasp the tabof sealer and attempt to peel at 180 deg.The material shall not be removable in a continuous coherent film.Observe for any indication that the material fails to adhere to thesubstrate or is brittle or fr
16、iable.3.10 COLD FLEXIBILITY No crackingTest Method:. Apply 150 x 9.5 x 9.5 mm length of uncured material to a sheetof aluminum foil or other non stick type surface material. Bake the material in a mechanical convection oven for 8 min at135 +/- 3 C metal temperature and 30 min at 205 +/- 3 C metaltem

Condition the material for 4 h at -29 and bend 190 deg around atemperature conditioned 24 mm diameter mandrel.3.11 CORROSION RESISTANCE, min 500 h(AST
