Abstract. This des

2、cription covers the requirements for belts that are intended for wear by enlisted men of the Department of the Army as a component of the army band uniform. Classification. The belt shall be of one type in the following lengths : Short - 42 2 1/2 inches (1067 2 13 mm) Long - 51 2 1/2 inches (1295 2

3、13 mm) Salient Characteristics. The belt shall be made from a strip of webbing ornamented with two stripes of braid; one stripe flush with the top edge of the belt and one stripe flush with the bottom edge of the belt. The braids shall be double stitched to each edge. Ends of all stitching, except w

4、hen caught in other seams or stitching, shall be backstitched or overstitched 1/2 inch (13 mm) minimum. The finished belt shall be equipped with two belt keepers. One belt keeper shall be placed at each end of the belt to secure the belt buckle and buckle catch. Keepers shall be of the same braid as

5、 the ornamentation but shall be double thickness to fit snugly over the belt ends. The strip shall be folded on itself and the side edges stitched not more t

8、han 1/16 inch (1.5 mm) from edge. Ends of strip shall be superimposed on each other and stitched 1/2 2 1/16 inch (13 2 1.5 mm) from end across the width of the braid. Fold ends back at the seam and stitch each end 1/8 - + 1/16 inch (3 1.5 mm) each side of seam through the keeper. Turn keeper inside

9、out, with ends to inside of the keeper, and thread one keeper over each end of belt. Do not stitch keepers to belt. Materials. Webbinq, cotton. The basic material for the belt shall be multiple weave cotton webbing, 1-3/4 inches (45 mm) wide conforming to the following requirements; the weight (min.

10、, oz. per length) shall be 2.75; the yarns per inch (min.) shall be 333 warp and 100 filling; the thickness (inches) shall be 1/8 2 1/64; the breaking strength (min., lbs.) full width shall be 1000; the yarn sizes (+ 5%) 12/3 warp and 12/3 filling. The color shall be Blue 334 and shall show fastness

11、 to accelerated weathering equal to or better than a rating of “fair“ when tested as specified in Table I. The dyed webbing shall show fastness to crocking equal to or better than a AATCC Chromatic Transference Scale rating not lower than 3.5 and shall show fastness to laundering (after 3 cycles) eq

12、ual to or better than a rating of “good“ when tested in accordance with Table I. Braid. The braid for the belt ornamentation shall be a rayon or nylon braid containing a braided cotton stuffier for each vellum and one cotton stuffier end at each edge of the braid. The color shall be Goldenlite, Cabl

13、e No. 17425. The width (inches) shall be 9/32; the weight (oz. per gross yd.) shall be 15 and picks per inch shall be 34 when tested in accordance with Table I. The dyed and finished braids shall show fastness to perspiration, wet dry-cleaning and light equal to or better than a rating of “good“ and

14、 shall show fastness to crocking equal to or better than a AATCC Chromatic Transference Scale rating not lower than 2.5. Thread. 17、ble), contract number, and name of contractor and shall be applied to the inside of the belt, centered toward the end of the belt. The size of the characters shall be a minimum 18 point, approximately 1/4 inch (6 mm) and shall show fastness to laundering. The label/marking shall be direct printing,

18、Workmanship. After completion, the finished belt shall be thoroughly cleaned, and all loose thread, lint, and foreign matter removed. Product Demonstration Model. When required, offerers shall submit samples of their intended production. The Product Demonstration Model will consist of units independ

19、ently developed. evaluated by the government. Evaluation criteria and basis for award are contained in the solicitation. Product Demonstration Models will be retained by the government. One (1) Product Demonstration Model approved by DPSC under the resultant contract will serve as a manufacturing st

20、andard for the corresponding production items delivered under this contract. Offerers are advised that the Product Demonstration Model does not relieve the successful offerer of his responsibility to perform in accordance with the Commercial Item Description specified above. The contractor shall certify that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this

22、 description and that the product conforms to the producers own drawings, specifications, standards and quality assurance practices. The government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to the first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for, under the provision

23、s of the contract. Reliance on contractor QA systems shall not relieve the contractor of the responsibility of ensuring that all products or supplies submitted to the government for acceptance comply with all requirements of the contract. Examination. Belt lots shall be inspected in accordance with

24、“Sampling Procedures and Tables for Inspection by Attributes“, ANSI/ASQC 21.4, published by the American Society for Quality Control. Visual Examination. The belts shall be examined for the defects listed below. The lot size shall be expressed in units of belts. The sample unit is one belt. The insp

25、ection level shall be II and the acceptable quality level (AQL), expressed in terms of defects per hundred units, shall be 2.5. Defects. The belts shall be examined for the following defects: any hole, cut, tear, not firmly or tightly woven, abrasion mark affecting appearance or serviceability; colo

26、r not as specified, appearance affected by shading or dye streaks; any spot or stain (outside); edges frayed or scalloped, thread ends not removed; marking missing, incorrect, or illegible; measurement of item not as specified; any component part omitted. Dimensional Examination. The finished belt s

27、hall conform to the dimensions specified. Any dimension that is not within the established tolerance shall be classified as a defect.
