National foreword This standard has been prepared by CEN/TC 160 “Protection against falls from a height including working belts” (Secretariat: DIN, Germany). The responsible German body involved in its preparation was the Normenausschuss Persnliche S
4、chutz-ausrstung (Personal Protective Equipment Standards Committee), Technical Committee NA 075-03-01 AA Persnliche Schutzausrstung gegen Absturz. Amendments This standard differs from DIN EN 1497:1996-06 as follows: a) The scope has been modified in that it no longer states that “a rescue harness i
5、s not a component of personal protective equipment against falls from a height”. b) New terms and definitions have been added. c) The concept “maximum rated load” has been introduced. d) The subclause on materials and construction has been restructured. e) Specifications regarding corrosion resistan
6、ce requirements and testing have been amended. f) Specifications regarding an examination of the design of harnesses have been introduced. g) Requirements for the test lanyard are described separately. h) The standard now has the status of a harmonized standard prepared under a mandate in accordance
7、 with European Directive 89/686/EEC. 16、ared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 160 “Protection against falls from a height including working belts”, the secretariat of which is held by DIN. This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an identical text or by endorsement, at the latest by Fe
17、bruary 2008, and conflicting national standards shall be withdrawn at the latest by February 2008. This document has been prepared under a mandate given to CEN by the European Commission and the European Free Trade Association, and supports essential requirements of EU Directive 89/686/EEC. For rela
18、tionship with EU Directive, see informative Annex ZA, which is an integral part of this document. Annex A provides details of significant technical changes between this European Standard and the previous edition: EN 1497:1996. This document supersedes EN 1497:1996. EN 1497:2007 (E) 4 Introduction A rescue harness conforming to this European Standard can be such that it is either intended to be used only for rescue or it may be incorporated int
21、o the design of other types of harnesses for personal fall protection, e.g. a full body harness. A rescue harness is intended to be worn during normal working activities. EN 1497:2007 (E) 5 1 Scope This European Standard specifies requirements, test methods, marking and information supplied by the m
22、anufacturer for rescue harnesses. Rescue harnesses conforming to this European Standard are used as components of rescue systems, which are personal fall protection systems. Rescue harnesses are not intended to be used as body holding devices in fall arrest systems. 2 Normative references The follow
