6、s been prepared under the direction of the Mining and Quarrying Requisites Standards Committee. BS6907 is based on the International Electrotechnical Commissions publication IEC621 “Electrical installations for outdoor sites under heavy conditions (including open-cast mines and quarries)” and, like

7、that publication, is published in Parts as follows. Part 1: Glossary; Part 2: General recommendations for protection against direct contact and electric shock; Part 3: Recommendations for equipment and ancillaries; Part 4: Recommendations for winning, stacking and processing machinery, pumps and low

8、 signal level and communications systems; Part 5: Recommendations for operation. BS6907 sets out the guiding principles for the installation and operation of electrical equipment so as to ensure safety of persons, livestock, property and the proper functioning of the plant. It applies to the install

9、ation and operation of electrical apparatus and systems associated with outdoor sites under heavy conditions, including open-cast mines, quarries, stockpiles, etc. It applies particularly to electrical apparatus and systems used for the following: a) winning, stacking and primary processing machiner

10、y; b) secondary processing machinery; c) conveyor systems; d) pumping and water supply systems; e) movable railway systems; f) control, signal, supervisory and communication systems. BS6907 does not cover temporary and provisional places of work in the open, such as building sites and earth-moving s

11、ites, unless the equipment used is similar to that used in surface mining applications. It takes account of British practice, electrical regulations and law and thereby differs in several respects from the IEC publication. Both cover a subject not previously the subject of an international standard

12、or a British Standard. A British Standard does not purport to include all the necessary provisions of a contract. Users of British Standards are responsible for their correct application. 14、:1988 BSI 08-1999 1 1 Scope This Part of BS6907 defines terms relating to electrical installations for open-cast mines and quarries. NOTEThe titles of the publications referred to in this standard are listed on the inside back cover. 2 Terms and definitions NOTE 1In the following definitions the ter

15、ms “safety” and “protection” are to be interpreted as follows. a) The term “safety” is used in a broad sense covering the safety of persons, livestock and property. In this respect the safety of property also includes those cases where safety depends on continuity of supply. b) The term “protection”

16、 is also used in a broad sense covering all measures and actions taken to protect against or prevent injury. It also includes all equipment used in connection with these measures and serving its purpose of assuring the safety of persons, livestock and electrical equipment. NOTE 2Certain definitions

17、are taken from IEC Publication50 and are identified in the text by the designation IEV XXX-XX-XX. Term Definition armour A covering consisting of metal tapes or wires used to protect a cable from external mechanical effects (IEV25-30-11). arms reach A zone extending from any point on a surface where

18、 persons usually stand or move about, to the limits which a person can reach with the hand in any direction without assistance (IEV826-03-11). barrier (screen) A part providing protection against direct contact from any usual direction of access (IEV826-03-13). closed electrical operating area An ar

19、ea accessible only through the use of a tool or key. NOTEThe area would be clearly and visibly marked by appropriate signs. competent persons Persons with technical knowledge or sufficient experience to enable them to avoid dangers which electricity may create. continuous duty A duty at a substantia

20、lly constant load for an indefinitely long time. conventional touch voltage limit (U L ) Maximum value of the touch voltage that is permitted to be maintained indefinitely in specified conditions of external influences (IEV826-02-04). conveyor system A movable or stationary mechanical item of plant

21、designed for the conveying of materials continuously from one location to another. NOTEConveyor systems include the following: a) belt conveyors; b) chain conveyors; c) bucket conveyors; d) paddle or scraper conveyors; e) screw conveyors; f) hydraulic or pneumatic conveyor systems. direct contact Co

22、ntact of persons or livestock with live parts (IEV826-03-05). drum (reeling) cable An insulated cable specially designed to be frequently reeled on and off a cable drum or reel mounted on a mobile machine. earthable point A point in the power system, e.g.of a transformer or generator, that would be

23、connected to earth if the system were to be earthed. NOTEThe earthable point may be the neutral point depending on the type of system. earth electrode A conductive part or a group of conductive parts in intimate contact with and providing an electrical connection with earth (IEV826-04-02).BS6907-1:1

24、988 2 BSI 08-1999 Term Definition earth fault current A current that flows from phase conductors to earth or protective conductors, or protective enclosures, etc., from the point of insulation breakdown. earthing conductor A protective conductor connecting the main earthing terminal or main earthing

25、 bar to the earth electrode (IEV826-04-07). electrical equipment Any item used for such purposes as generation, conversion, transmission, distribution or utilization of electrical energy, such as machines, transformers, apparatus, measuring instruments, protective devices, equipment for wiring syste

26、ms, appliances (IEV826-07-01). electrical installation An assembly of associated electrical equipment to fulfil a specific purpose or purposes and having coordinated characteristics. electrical operating area An area accessible only by the opening of a door or the removal of a barrier. NOTEThe area

27、would be clearly and visibly marked by appropriate signs. enclosure A part providing protection of electrical equipment against certain external influences and, in any direction, protection against direct contact (IEV826-03-12). equipotential bonding Electrical connection putting various exposed con

28、ductive parts and extraneous conductive parts at a substantially equal potential (IEV826-04-09). equipotential bonding conductor A protective conductor for ensuring equipotential bonding (IEV826-04-10). exposed conductive part A conductive part of electrical equipment that can be touched and is not

29、normally live, but that may become live under fault conditions. NOTEA conductive part of electrical equipment that can only become live under fault conditions through an extraneous conductive part is not considered to be an exposed conductive part. external power supply An electrical installation in

30、 which the generation and utilization plants are not housed within the same structure. extraneous conductive part A conductive part not forming part of the electrical installation and liable to introduce a potential, generally the earth potential (IEV826-03-03). fault current A current resulting fro

31、m an insulation failure or the bridging of insulation. fixed apparatus An apparatus or assembly of apparatus that is installed in a determined place and that is not normally moved. indirect contact Contact of persons or livestock with exposed conductive parts or extraneous conductive parts that have

32、 become live under fault conditions (IEV826-03-06). insulation monitoring device A device that causes a signal to be given in the event of reduced insulation resistance to earth. leakage current A current (in an installation) which, in the absence of a fault, flows to earth or to extraneous conducti

33、ve parts in a circuit. NOTEThis current may have a capacitive component including that resulting from the deliberate use of capacitors (IEV826-03-08).BS6907-1:1988 BSI 08-1999 3 Term Definition live part A conductor or conductive part intended to be energized in normal use, including a neutral condu

34、ctor, but, by convention, not a PEN conductor. NOTEThis term does not necessarily imply a risk of electric shock (IEV826-03-01). main earthing terminal (main earthing bar) A terminal or bar provided for the connection of protective conductors, including equipotential bonding conductors and conductor

35、s for functional earthing if any, to the means of earthing (IEV826-04-08). mobile apparatus An apparatus or assembly of apparatus that is too heavy to be portable but that is capable of being moved without discontinuity of electric power during use. movable apparatus An apparatus or assembly of appa

36、ratus that is too heavy to be portable, but that is moved between periods of use, with its electric power source disconnected. movable distribution cable An insulated cable that may be moved from time to time according to the operation without necessarily following the movements of the machinery. ne

37、utral conductor (N) A conductor connected to the neutral point of a system and capable of contributing to the transmission of electrical energy (IEV826-01-03). open-cast mine An open air site for the extraction of materials, such as coal, bauxite, iron ore, etc. operating area An area in which the m

38、easures adopted for protection against direct contact are adequate to permit safe access by ordinary persons. ordinary persons Persons having inadequate training or experience to enable them to avoid dangers which electricity may create. overhead collector wire An overhead line used for supplying mo

39、ving machinery, such as a reclaimer, by means of a collector. overhead distribution line (feeder) An interconnecting overhead line between the distribution substation and load point. overhead line An electric line, having bare or insulated conductors, supported to maintain a specified minimum distan

40、ce above ground level. overhead traction distribution line (feeder) An overhead line having bare or insulated conductors used for the interconnecting line between the power source and traction wire. overhead traction (trolley) wire An overhead line having bare conductors used for supplying vehicles

41、(e.g.locomotives) by means of a collector or pantograph. PEN conductor An earthed conductor combining the function of both protective conductor and neutral conductor. NOTEThe acronym PEN results from the combination of both symbols PE for the protective conductor and N for the neutral conductor (IEV

44、impedance in the electrical installation (IEV826-02-03). protective conductor (PE) A conductor required in some types of protection against electric shock for electrically connecting any of the following parts: a) exposed conductive parts; b) extraneous conductive parts; c) main earthing terminal; d

45、) earth electrode; e) earthed point of the source or artificial neutral (IEV826-04-05). protective system (device) A system or device designed to prevent danger to personnel or livestock and damage to plant in the event of overcurrent due to overload, fault current or earth fault current. quarry An

46、open air site for the extraction of materials such as limestone, gravel, clay, etc. residual current The algebraic sum of the instantaneous values of current flowing through all live conductors of a circuit at a point of the electrical installation (IEV826-03-09). safety circuit (device) A circuit o

47、r device designed to prevent danger to persons or livestock and damage to plant in the event of abnormal or unintentional operation, but not including circuits and devices for protection against shock or thermal effects of overload or fault current. secondary processing machinery Any machinery neces

48、sary to process, at a point remote from the open-cast or quarry, material won from the earth. self-contained power supply An electrical installation in which the generation and utilization plants are housed within the same structure. system An electrical system consisting of a single source of elect

49、rical energy and an electrical installation. The types of system are identified as follows, depending upon the relationship of the source, and of exposed conductive parts of the installation, to earth. IT system A system having the earthable point not connected to earth, or connected to earth through an impedance (resistor or reactor), the exposed conductive parts of the installation being connected to earth electrodes which may be the same as those used for the earthing resistor or reactor. TN system A system having one or more points of the source of energy d
