Certain functional and maintenance features are inclu

Guidance for the selection and use of reservoirs is given inAppendix A. NOTEThe titles of the publications refer

、h can sensibly be stored in a reservoir 2.3 reservoir a container that stores the working fluid of a hydraulic fluid power system, prevents the ingression of solid or liquid contaminants into the fluid, dissipates heat generated in the fluid, facilitates the separation of air entrained in the fluid,
、 provides a suitable mounting surface (when required) for system components, and which has accessibility for servicing and facilities for handling 2.4 total volume the total volume of the space within a reservoir 3 Construction 3.1 Capacity 3.1.1 The nominal fluid capacity shall be as given inTable
、1. 3.1.2 To ensure that there is adequate air space above the fluid surface, the total volume shall be approximately125% the nominal fluid capacity. 3.2 Materials 3.2.1 The reservoir shall be fabricated from suitable rigid materials that are compatible with the fluids to be contained. 3.2.2 All seal
、 materials shall be compatible with the fluid to be contained within the reservoir. 3.3 Support The reservoir shall be supported in such a manner that the minimum ground clearance shown inFigure 1 is provided to give access to, and permit removal of, the drain plug and to ensure air circulation unde
、rneath the reservoir. 3.4 Baffles 3.4.1 Reservoirs having a nominal fluid capacity of100L and greater shall be fitted with internal baffles to ensure adequate circulation of all the fluid. 3.4.2 The baffles shall be so located as to separate the return fluid from the suction fluid. 3.4.3 Any apertur
、es which facilitate flow through the baffles shall be so located as to ensure that the fluid flows along the reservoir sides to give maximum heat dissipation. 3.4.4 The baffles shall have apertures above the maximum fluid level which are of sufficient size to permit air flow between compartments. 1)
、 Defined in BS6413-4.BS6525:1984 2 BSI 07-1999 3.4.5 The baffles shall be so positioned as to facilitate complete removal of fluid and permit cleaning of all internal surfaces by hand. 3.5 Internal access 3.5.1 At least one access opening, with a covering panel complying with the dimensions given in
、 Table 2, shall be provided in a vertical wall of the reservoir. 3.5.2 The number and location of the panels shall be such as to facilitate the cleaning of all internal surfaces by hand. 3.5.3 The access panels shall be capable of removal and refitment by one operator and each shall be fitted with a
、 re-usable elastomeric seal seeFigure 2(b). 3.6 Bottom profile The bottom surface of the reservoir shall be shaped to ensure complete drainage. 3.7 Reservoir top To prevent ingress of contaminants during assembly and/or servicing any threaded accessory mounting holes used to attach components to the
、 reservoir top shall be of the “blind” type. NOTESuch blind fixings are not necessary when mounting a filler or breather. 3.8 Drip tray 3.8.1 When a drip tray is to be fitted it shall be in accordance with the dimensions given inFigure 3. 3.8.2 The drip tray, if fitted, shall be provided with a drai
