Part 99 describes test methods having national applicabilit

11、y only.The International Eletrotechnical Commission has completed its comprehensive update of the test methods previously given in IEC 538, IEC 538A and IEC 540, which are now largely brought together in IEC 811. Electrical tests from IEC 540 have been incorporated into IEC 885. The technical change

12、s introduced during this update, and endorsed by CENELEC in HD 505, are now included in BS 6469.BS 6469-4.2 includes a number of test methods described in BS 6234. Other test methods from BS 6234, from BS 6746 and from BS 6899 have been incorporated in BS 6469-99. The status of these test methods in

13、 BS 6234, BS 6746 and BS 6899 will be reviewed separately.BS 6469 describes methods of test, but does not specify requirements for products or materials. These will be specified in the relevant cable standards or cable material standards.This Section of BS 6469 details the electrical tests previousl

14、y specified in BS 6469:1990 which have not been included in CENELEC Harmonization Document HD 505. These test methods are called up in various electric cable specifications for non-harmonized national types.It has been assumed in the preparation of this British Standard that the execution of its pro

15、visions will be entrusted to appropriately qualified and experienced people, for whose use it has been produced.WARNING. The methods of test described in this British Standard do not necessarily detail all precautions necessary to meet the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974.

20、ating and sheathing materials of electric cables.This Section of BS 6469 gives methods for electrical tests not included in the CENELEC Harmonization Document HD 505, and hence not given in BS 6349-1 to BS 6349-5.The methods of test described in this Section of BS 6469 are as follows:a) a test for i

21、nsulation resistance constant (K value);b) a test for power factor and permittivity;c) a capacitance test for water absorption of insulation.NOTE The titles of the publications referred to in this standard are listed on the inside back cover.2 Test valuesFull test conditions (such as temperatures an

22、d durations) and full test requirements are not specified in this standard; it is intended that they should be specified by the standard dealing with the relevant type of cable.Any test requirements which are given in this standard may be modified by the relevant cable standard to suit the needs of

23、a particular type of cable.3 ApplicabilityConditioning values and testing parameters are specified for the most common types of insulating and sheathing compounds and of cables, wires and cords.4 Type tests and other testsThe test methods described in this standard are suitable to be used for type t

24、ests. In certain tests, where there are essential differences between the conditions for type tests and those for more frequent tests, such as routine tests, these differences are indicated.5 SamplingFor multicore cables and cords, not more than three cores (of different colours, if any) shall be te

25、sted unless otherwise specified in the relevant cable standard.6 Pre-conditioning and test temperatureAll the tests shall be carried out not less than 16 h after the extrusion or vulcanization (or cross-linking), if any, of the insulating or sheathing compounds.Unless otherwise specified, tests shal

26、l be made at room temperature.NOTE In the UK room temperature is defined as 20 5 C.7 DefinitionsFor the purposes of this Section of BS 6469, the definitions given in BS 4727-2:Group 08 apply.8 Method of test for insulation resistance constant (K value)8.1 Test on coreRemove the sheath and any other

27、covering or filling for a length of at least 5 m, taking care not to damage the insulation.When specified in the relevant standard, condition the core by immersion in water for 12 h to 16 h at a temperature of 20 5 C, with a length of about 250 mm at each end of the core projecting above the water.I

28、mmediately after the conditioning period, immerse the core in water at the temperature stated in the relevant standard. After immersion for 120 10 min, apply a voltage between 300 V d.c. and 500 V d.c. between the conductor and the water. Measure the insulation resistance 1 min after the application

29、 of the voltage.Calculate the insulation resistance constant (K value, in M7km) from the equation:where8.2 Test on PVC sheathFor the test piece use a sheet 1.00 0.15 mm thick and large enough to accommodate the electrodes, moulded from the sheath at a temperature between 140 C and 160 C or obtained

32、stance constant (K value; in M7km) from the equation:where9 Method of test for power factor and permittivityTake samples of core of length not less than 5 m, from the complete cable and immerse them in water for 24 h at room temperature with a length of about 250 mm at each end of the core projectin

Measure the power factor and capacitance of the insulation between the conductor and the water with suitable equipment at any convenient frequency between 40 Hz and 62 Hz, at the rated voltage to earth, Uo, of the cable and at a temperature 20 1 C.Calculate the permittivity from t

34、he equation:where10 Water absorption determined by the capacitance method10.1 Preparation of test specimenTake a sample of the core about 4.5 m long, after vulcanization but before the application of any covering except tape applied before vulcanization. Wherever possible remove any tape before the

35、test. Prepare the test specimen from the sample not less than 48 h after vulcanization, by drying for 24 h in air at 70 5 C. Allow the test specimen to cool to approximately 50 C before immersion in the water.10.2 Immersion of specimenPlace the test specimen in a water tank so that its middle portio

36、n for a length of 3 m is immersed, whilst each end is above the water level for a length of 0.75 m. Maintain the water at a temperature of 50 1 C for 14 days. Place a tightly fitting cover directly above the water surface with suitable watertight bushings for the ends of the test specimen and keep t

37、he water level constant.10.3 Electrical measurementsCarry out the test with one of the following voltages:a) an average stress at any frequency from 40 Hz to 62 Hz inclusive, of:800 V/mm for insulation types GP1, FR1, OR1, and GP4, to BS 6899,2 500 V/mm for insulation type FR2, to BS 6899,3 200 V/mm

38、 for insulation types GP2 and GP5 to BS 6899;b) a low voltage at any frequency from 800 Hz to 1 000 Hz inclusive.Measure the capacitance after continuous immersion for 1, 7 and 14 days checking that the water is at the same temperature for all measurements.Express the increase in capacitance from 1
