9、uirements for sterilization and disinfection have been omitted as it is believed that sterilization and disinfection of hospital mattresses are no longer current hospital practices. Requirements for reinforced edges, joint strength and packaging have also been omitted Annex A is normative. A British

It provides for two classes of general purpose mattress core as follows: -

13、 Class 1. Mattress cores for bedsteads and cots for adult patients; - Class 2. Mattress cores for bedsteads, cots and maternity cribs for children. This part of this standard does not apply to mattresses for special purposes or mattresses comprising more than one layer of foam. This part of this sta

21、ensions for mattress cores if not specified in Tables 1 and 2 shall be as follows: for width and depth mm; for len 20 mm. NOTE Mattress cores may be required for sizes of bedsteads other than those conforming to the British Standards referred to in Tables 1 and 2. Under these circumstances purchaser

22、s may wish to order mattress cores of sizes other than those specified in this standard but which conform to this standard in ail other respects. 4 Construction The mattress core shall be made from single layer, combustion modified, flexible polyurethane foam of type CMB, CM-HB, CM-M or CM-HM as def

23、ined in BS 3379. The structure shail be homogeneous with no corrections or repairs and shall consist of an open, interconnecting cellular construction. It shall be free from physical defects such as splits, tears and large blowholes. NOTE if the mattress core is supplied complete with a cover, the f

24、it of the cover should be such that there is no nicking of the fabric or deformation of the core. 25、e 3. I 6 Ignitability The foam from which the mattress core is manufactured shall satisfy the requirements of annex A. Nm if the mattress core is supplied with a cover the assembly should satisfy the performance requirements given in BS 7177 for medium hazard environments. 7 Marking Mattress cores t

26、hat conform to this standard shall be indelibly marked with the following: a) the name, trade mark or other means of identification of the manufacturer; b) the number and date of this British Standard, e) the month and year of manufacture; d) the nominal dimensions. i.e. BS 5223-2:19991); I NOTE if

33、gulations 1988 Part I Ignitabiiity test for polyurethane foam in slab or cushion form 1) The foam shall be tested in accordance with the method set out in BS 5852-2:1982 using cover fabric corresponding to the specification set out in paragraph 2 below. 2) The fabric shall be made of 100 % flame ret

34、ardant polyester fibre. Its construction sha be woven to a plain weave. The yam in the warp shal be of 1.6 decitex fibre, spun to a linear density of 37 tex, Z wist at420 turns per metre. The fabric shail be woven to 20.5 yarn threads per centimetre in the warp. The yam in the weft shail be of 3.3 d

35、ecitex fibre spun to a linear densi of 100 tex, Z twist at 550 tums per metre. The fabric shall be woven to between 12.6 and 13 threads per centimetre in the we& The fabric shall be scoured and heat set. Its mass shali be 220 g/m2 f 5 %. 3) The test rig is placed on a metal imy of sufficient dimensi

36、ons to collect any debris failing from specimens being tested. The rig and debris tray shaU be mounted on a weighing baiance with a remote readout having a fuli-de deflection of at least O kg to 20 kg to an accuracy of 2 g. 4) The foam under test, cut to the specified dimensions, is placed on the te

37、st rig, covered with the fabric specified in paragraph 2 above and tensioned with clips as set out in BS 5852. An ignition some 5 crib is placed in position. The mass of the complete assembly is determined (initiai mass). The test shai be carried out in accordance with BS 5852. In pa&ular flaming or

38、 smouldering failure shali be determined against the criteria of clause 4 of that standard. After flaming and Smouldering have ceased, any debris which has become detached from the specimen shall be removed. The remaining mass of the assembly (fmal mass) is then recorded. 5) If failure against the c

39、riteria of BS 5852-2: 1982 clause 4 has occurred but ony by way of the damage exceeding the limits defined in subclauses 4.1 e), 4.1 f) and 4.2 f) and provided that the resultant mass loss (initiai mass less final mass) is less than 60 g the foam passes the ignitability test.
