This will be indicated in the amendment table on the inside front cover.BS5173-103.6:1990 BSI 07-1999 1 1 Scope This Section of BS5173 describes a method of test which is primarily applicable to gas cutting and welding and simil
11、ar hoses to determine the ignitability of the lining. NOTE 1For the purpose of this test, ignition is the initiation of combustion, which is the destruction by oxidation with the production of heat, usually with incandescence or flame, or both. NOTE 2The titles of the publications referred to in thi
12、s standard are listed on the inside back page. 2 Apparatus 2.1 General. Apparatus required for this test is shown in Figure 1. The following are also required. 2.2 A 350 W heating furnace, the internal dimensions being150mm deep by50mm diameter. 2.3 A variable resistor with a screw movement or an au
13、to-transformer with continuously variable output voltage. 2.4 A calibrated flowmeter for oxygen suitable for the measurement of a flow of0L/min to5L/min at a temperature of15 C and at atmospheric pressure. 2.5 A nitrogen-filled mercury-in-glass thermometer suitable for use at150mm immersion, graduat
14、ed from approximately300Cto400 C in intervals of not more than5 C, the lowest scale line being not less than200mm above the bulb. 3 Test piece 3.1 Clean the sample of material for test by buffing. Remove all traces of reinforcement from the sample. 3.2 Cut three test pieces, from the same sample, in
15、to blocks of volume8mm 3to10mm 3 , the sides of each block being greater than1.3mm but less than2.5mm in length. 4 Procedure 4.1 Insert the ignition test apparatus, in its aluminium foil wrapping, into the electric furnace. Adjust the energy supply to the electric furnace with the variable resistor
16、or auto-transformer so that a constant temperature between360Cand365 C is maintained with the oxygen flowing at2 0.1L/min. 4.2 When the furnace is at constant temperature, remove the test piece holder and impale a test piece block of the material under test on the tungsten point.
