It is a revision of
7、clause 6 of BS 5173-3:1977, which is deleted by amendment. The remainder of the 1977 edition is to be revised and as each of the tests is revised it is intended to issue it as a separate Part or Section of BS 5173, as described in BS 5173-100. The major technical change is the addition of three extr
8、a methods. Methods C and D determine the same parameters as described in methods A and B but are carried out on a complete section of hose and are suitable for large bore hoses. Method E is a means of assessing the loss of function on crushing and is suitable for hoses for liquid petroleum gas (LPG)
9、/air installations. A British Standard does not purport to include all the necessary provisions of a contract. Users of British Standards are responsible for their correct application. 11、03.2:1990 BSI 08-1999 1 1 Scope This Section of BS 5173 describes five methods for the determination of the behaviour of rubber and plastics hoses when subjected to a crushing force. NOTEThe titles of the publications referred to in this standard are listed on the inside back cover. 2 Test pieces 2.
12、1 For methods A, B, C and D, for hoses of nominal bore up to and including 50 mm, the test piece shall be a sample of hose of minimum length equal to four times the nominal bore. For hoses of nominal bore above 50mm and up to and including 100mm a length of 200mm shall be used. For hoses of nominal
13、bore greater than 100 mm the minimum length shall be twice the outside diameter. 2.2 For method E the test piece shall be a sample of hose long enough to connect to the air supply control valve and the air measuring equipment. 3 Conditioning of test pieces No test shall be carried out within 24 h of
14、 manufacture. NOTEFor evaluations which are intended to be comparable, the test should be carried out at the same time interval after manufacture. Before testing, test pieces shall be conditioned for at least16h at a standard temperature and humidity (see BS 903-A35); this16h period may be part of t
15、he24h interval after manufacture. 4 Method A 4.1 Principle The crush resistance of hoses is determined by measuring any residual deformation after releasing an applied specific force. 4.2 Apparatus 4.2.1 A compression testing machine, complying with BS 1610, or similar, capable of a rate of traverse
16、 of50 5 mm/min with a load capacity adequate for the level of crushing force that may be specified. 4.2.2 Two square metal plates, of sufficient thickness to be capable of withstanding the applied forces without deformation. The size of these plates may be chosen from the following depending on the
17、size and type of hose under test. 50 mm 50 mm 80 mm 80 mm 150 mm 150 mm 300 mm 300 mm The edges of the plates shall be rounded to an approximate radius of 1.5mm to avoid cutting of the hose during the test. 4.3 Procedure Condition the test piece (see 2.1) as described in clause 3. Measure the outsid
18、e diameter of the test piece (D 0 ) by an appropriate method described in BS5173-101.1 (see Figure 1). Place the test piece between the two parallel plates mounted in the test machine so that the central section of the test piece is crushed. Apply the specified crushing force for the hose under test
19、 at a rate of 50 5 mm/min and maintain for60 2 s. Measure the mean distance (D 1 ) between the face of the plates whilst the force is maintained. Release the force and remove the test piece from the machine. After 60 2 s measure the minimum outside dimension (D 2 ) of the test piece at the centre of
20、 the compressed area. 5 Method B 5.1 Principle The force required to achieve a specified deformation is determined and any residual deformation after the force has been released is measured. 5.2 Apparatus 5.2.1 A compression testing machine, as described in4.2.1. 5.2.2 Two square metal plates, as de

Measure the outside diameter of the test piece (D 0 ) by an appropriate method described in BS 5173-101.1 (see Fig
22、ure 1). Place the test piece between the two parallel plates mounted in the test machine so that the central section of the test piece is crushed. Apply the crushing force at a rate of50 5 mm/min until the mean distance between the faces of the plates is the predetermined specified dimension for the
23、 hose under test. Measure the force applied and maintain the deformation for60 2 s. Release the force and remove the test piece from the machine. After 60 2 s measure the minimum outside dimension (D 2 ) of the test piece at the centre of the compressed area. 6 Method C 6.1 Principle Method C determ
24、ines the parameter described in method A, but is carried out on a complete section of hose. 6.2 Apparatus 6.2.1 A compression testing machine, as described in 4.2.1. 6.2.2 Two square metal plates, as described in 4.2.2, but of greater size than the test piece. 6.3 Procedure Condition the test piece
