Materialselection can be made by those having expertise in the plasticfield only after careful consideration of the design and theperformance required of the part, the environment to which itwill be exposed, the fabrication process to be employed, thecosts involved,

These groups are subdivided into classesand grades as shown in the Basic Property Table (Table _).Anexample of a basic property table can be found in ClassificationSystem D6779. The prop

The grade is identified by asingle letter that indicates the filler or re

20、inforcement used andtwo digits, in multiples of 5, that indicate the nominal quantityin percent by weight. Thus, a grade containing 35 % glassreinforcement would be indicated by _ G35. 27、r special materi-als the “other” category for group (00), class (0), and grade (0)is shown in Table _.4.2 Reinforced, filled, and lubricated versions of _ mate-rials that are not in Table _ are classified in accordance withTables _ and A or B. Table _ is used to specify the Group orthe group and cla

28、ss of _ and Table A or B is used to specifythe property requirements.4.2.1 Reinforced, filled, and lubricated variations of thebasic materials are identified by a single letter from Table 1 thatindicates the filler and/or reinforcement used and two digitsthat indicate the nominal quantity in percent

29、 by weight. Asecond letter, from Table 1a, when desired, is used to indicatethe form or structure of the reinforcement and/or filler, but isnot used for functional mixtures. Thus, a letter designation Gfor glass, E for beads or spheres or balls, and 33 for percent byweight, GE33, specifies a reinfor

30、ced or filled material with 33percent by weight in the form of glass beads, spheres, or balls.The reinforcement letter designations and associated tolerancelevels are shown in the previous table. The designation will consist of the letter “A” or “B” andthe five digits comprising the cell numbers for the propertyrequirements in the order as they appear in Tables A or B.4.2.2.1 Although the values listed are necessary to includethe range of properties availa

34、ble in existing materials, notevery possible combination of the properties exists or can beobtained.4.2.3 When the grade of the basic material is not known, oris not important, the use of the “0” grade classification shall beused for the reinforced materials in this system.NOTE 6An example of this c

Suffixes5.1 When additional requirements are

36、needed that are notcovered by the basic requirements or cell-table requirements,they shall be indicated through the use of suffixes.5.2 A list of suffixes can be found in Classification SystemD4000 (Table 3) and are to be used for additional requirementsas appropriate. Additional suffixes will be ad

37、ded to thatstandard as test methods and requirements are developed andrequested.6. General Requirements6.1 Basic requirements from the property tables or celltables are always in effect unless superseded by specific suffixrequirements, which always take precedence.6.2 The plastics composition shall

38、be uniform and shallconform to the requirements specified herein.7. Detail Requirements7.1 The materials shall conform to the requirements inTables _, _, _, and suffix requirements as they apply.7.2 For purposes of determining conformance, all specifiedlimits for a specification (line callout) based

39、 on this classifica-tion system are absolute limits, as defined in Practice E29.7.2.1 With the absolute method, an observed value or acalculated value is not rounded, but is to be compared directlywith the limiting value. Conformance or nonconformance isbased on this comparison.8. Sampling8.1 Sampli

40、ng shall be statistically adequate to satisfy therequirements of 12.4.8.2 A batch or lot is construed as a unit of manufacture asprepared for shipment and can consist of a blend of two ormore “production runs.”9. Specimen Preparation9.1 Indicate the source of the test specimens for the relevanttest

Conditioning10.1 Test specimens shall be conditioned in the standardlaboratory atmosphere in accordance with Procedure A ofPractice D618 before performing the required tests.NO

Inspection and Certification12.1 Inspection and certification of the material suppliedwith reference to a specification based on this classificationsystem shall be f

44、or conformance to the requirements specifiedherein.12.2 Lot-acceptance inspection shall be the basis on whichacceptance or rejection of the lot is made.
