These require-ments outline the testing and retesting methods and procedures,permissible variations in dimensions,

9、 and mass, quality andrepair of defects, marking, loading, etc.3.2 Specification A 20/A 20M also establishes the rules forthe ordering information which should be complied with whenpurchasing material to this specification.3.3 In addition to the basic requirements of this specifica-tion, certain sup

10、plementary requirements are available whenadditional control, testing, or examination is required to meetend use requirements. 15、.4. Manufacture4.1 Steelmaking PracticeThe steel shall be killed andconform to the fine austenitic grain size requirement ofSpecification A 20/A 20M.5. Heat Treatment5.1 All plates shall be thermally treated as follows:5.1.1 Class 1 plates shall be normalized.5.1.2 Class 2 and Class 3 plates shall b

16、e quenched andtempered. The tempering temperature for Class 2 plates shallnot be less than 1100F 595C for not less than12 h and1150F 620C for Class 3 plates for not less than12 h.6. Chemical Requirements Chemical Requirements6.1 The steel shall conform to the chemical requirementsshown in Table 1 un

17、less otherwise modified in accordance withSupplementary Requirement S17, Vacuum Carbon-DeoxidizedSteel, in Specification A 20/A 20M.7. Mechanical Requirements7.1 Tension Tests:7.1.1 RequirementsThe material as represented by thetension-test specimens shall conform to the requirementsshown in Table 2

18、.7.1.2 For Class 2 and Class 3 plates with a nominalthickness of34 in. 20 mm and under, the 112-in. 40-mmwide rectangular specimen may be used for the tension test,and the elongation may be determined in a 2-in. 50-mm gagelength that includes the fracture and that shows the greatestelongation.8.
