SCOPE

2、 1.1 Scope. This specification covers the requirements for a room-temperature drying silicone rubber sealant primer. The primer may be used to promote adhesion of the sealant covered by MIL-A-46106, and similar hard-to-bond surfaces. The usage of primer should be substantiated by tests for the surfa

3、ces in question. The primer may be applied by dipping, brushing or spraying. The primer and sealant, used as a system, shall be manufactured by the same company. 2. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS 2.1 Material. The material shall be a room-temperature drying primer compatible with sealant conforming to MIL-

4、A-46106, Type I. The material shall meet the chemical properties specified in 2.2.1 and 2

6、.2.2. 2.2.1 Nonvolatile solids. The nonvolatile solids content shall be 14 to 17 percent by weight. 2.3 Physical properties. The material shall meet the physical properties specified in 2.3.1, 2.3.2, and 2.3.3. 2.3.1 Viscosity. The viscosity of the material at 25“ Celsius (C) (77 Fahrenheit (F) shal

7、l be 2 to 10 centipoises when determined with a Brookfield viscometer, or equivalent, using an LVF No. 1 spindle rotating at 60 revolutions per minute 2.3.2 Appearance. The primer shall be fluorescent pink. 2.3.3 Shelf life. The shelf life of the primer in original, unopened containers shall be up t

8、o 12 months fiom date of shipment when stored in a clean, dry environment at temperatures below 43.3 “C (1 1 O OF). 2.4 Workmansh ip. The workmanship shall be such as to ensure a product which is uniform, in conformance with this specification, and properly packaged and packed. The primer shall be f

9、iee of dirt, foreign material, or other contamination. Containers shall be clean, uniformly filled, well-sealed, and legibly marked. 3. REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS 3.1 The offeror/contractor is encouraged to use recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable, in accordance with paragraph 23.403 o

10、f the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR). 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Product Conformance. The products provided shall meet the salient characteristics of this commercial item description, conform to the producers own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices, an

11、d be the same product offered for sale in the commercial market. The government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance. 4.1.1 The contractor may use his normal quality assurance procedures for manufacture of this product; however, should a disagreement arise between the Government a

14、he item must have been producing a product meeting the requirements of this CID for at least two years. 4.2.2 The company must have sold 1000 units meeting the requirements of this CID in the commercial marketplace over the past two years. 5.
