Scope1.1 This specification covers airsoft guns, air soft guns, orsoft air guns, or any combination thereof, which propel a lowenergy air gun

3、 projectile, as defined in 3.1.2 and meeting therequirements in Specification F2748. These devices are alsoknown as low energy air guns (LEAG).1.2 LimitationsThis specification does not cover the fol-lowing categories of gun products: Products covered bySpecifications F589 (non-powder guns), F2272 (

4、paintballmarkers), F2573 (toy products), and F2574 (non-recreationalguns such as those used by law enforcement, scientific, ormilitary agencies).1.3 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as thestandard. Terminology3.1 Definitions of Terms Specific to This Standard:3.1.1 airsoft gun, ncommonly referred to as airsoft gun,air soft gun, or soft air gun, or any combination thereof, or alow energy air gun (LEAG), refers to a device specificallydesigned to expel a projectile as described in S

8、pecificationF2679, by the release of energy by compressed air, compressedgas, mechanical springs, battery, or a combination thereof.3.1.2 airsoft gun projectile, nis spherical, 6 mm (.24 cal)in diameter, non-metallic and non-liquid filled projectile to beused in an airsoft gun meeting the requiremen

Significance and Use4.1 This specification addresses the appropriate warningsand instructions that are to be provided for literature, labels,packages, and procedures for safe use of airsoft guns.5. Conformance5.1 Airsoft guns shall not, either by label or other means,in

10、dicate conformance with this specification unless they con-form with the applicable requirements contained herein.6. General Requirements6.1 LiteratureLiterature shall be provided with each air-soft gun and shall include, as applicable, the instructions andcautionary statements specified in Section

11、7.6.2 PackagingPackaging shall be labeled in a prominentand conspicuous manner in accordance with the provisions ofSection 7.7. Instructions, Labeling, and Marking7.1 GeneralPackaging and literature for airsoft guns withenergy under two joule shall contain a cautionary statement asprescribed in this

12、 specification.7.2 Safety disclaimers shall not be used which dilute ornegate the effectiveness of the warnings provided for in theseinstructions, labeling, and marking requirements.7.3 Packaging:7.3.1 The packaging for airsoft guns with energy under twojoule shall contain a cautionary statement. Th

The letters in the signal word shall be least50 % larger than the letters in the other words in the cautionarystatement. The signal word

17、 shall be in upper case letters andpreceded by a safety alert symbol. It is composed of anequilateral triangle surrounding an exclamation mark. The baseof the safety alert symbol shall be on the same horizontal lineas the base of the letters of the signal word. The height of thesafety alert symbol s

18、hall equal or exceed the signal wordheight. The signal word shall be in black letters on an orangebackground. The solid triangle of the safety alert symbol shallbe black and the exclamation point shall be orange. Thecautionary statement shall have either black lettering on awhite background or white

19、 lettering on a black background.When special circumstances limit the use of the warning to twocolors, the colors assigned to the signal word background mayalso be used for the cautionary statement letters, provided thatthey contrast with the background color of the product. Whenspecial circumstance

20、s preclude the use of safety colors on basematerials such as wood, cardboard, metal, plastic, and so forth,the marking used should (when feasible) contrast with thebackground color of the base material.7.3.3 The cautionary statement on packaging of all airsoftguns with energy under two joule shall c

21、onvey the followinginformation at a minimum:7.3.3.1 A signal word “WARNING.”7.3.3.2 A warning that this is not a toy.7.3.3.3 A warning that misuse may cause serious injury,especially to the eye.7.3.3.4 A warning that eye protection designed for airsoftguns must be worn by the user and any person wit

22、hin range.7.3.3.5 Instructions to read operation manual before using.7.3.3.6 The following cautionary statement may be used:“ WARNINGThis is not a toy. Misuse may cause seriousinjury, especially to the eye. Eye protection designed for airsoft guns must be worn by the user and any person withinrange.

23、 Read the owners manual before using.7.3.3.7 The packaging for airsoft guns with energy undertwo joule shall contain a recommendation that a person be atleast 18 years of age to purchase.7.3.3.8 The packaging must contain a warning that adultsupervision is required.7.3.3.9 The packaging for airsoft

24、guns with energy undertwo joule shall contain a warning not to misuse the gun and thatbrandishing it in public or changing the coloration and mark-ings to make it look more like a firearm may confuse peopleand may be a crime.7.3.3.10 The packaging for airsoft guns with energy undertwo joule shall co

25、ntain an advisory that the end user of thisproduct should be aware of all requirements imposed byapplicable U.S. federal, state, and local laws, regulations, andadministrative policies related to airsoft equipment or use ofsaid equipment.7.3.3.11 Information shall be provided which identifies thetyp

26、e of propellant or energy source intended for use in theairsoft gun.7.3.4 The packaging for airsoft guns with energy under twojoule shall show conspicuously the name and address of themanufacturer, the distributor, or the dealer.7.3.5 The packaging for airsoft guns with energy under twojoule shall b

27、e clearly marked with the following: a descriptionof the type of airsoft gun enclosed in the package, the modelnumber of the airsoft gun, and the caliber of the airsoft gun.7.3.6 Packaging for airsoft guns with energy under twojoule must include a statement of maximum velocity, deter-mined using a .

28、12 or .20 gram, or both, projectile.7.3.7 If an airsoft gun with energy under two joule iscustomarily sold without the packaging that would normallycontain the information required in 7.3.1 7.3.6, the informa-tion required in these sections shall be placed on the airsoft gunitself, either on a label

29、 or hangtag that meets the samerequirements for content, prominence, and visibility at the timeof sale.7.3.8 The packaging for airsoft guns with energy over twojoule shall contain a cautionary statement. The statement shallbe placed prominently on the package and set distinctivelyapart from other wo

44、ably marked to convey the followinginformation at a minimum:7.4.1.1 A signal word “WARNING.”7.4.1.2 A warning that this is not a toy.7.4.1.3 A warning that eye protection must be worn toprevent serious injury to eye.7.4.1.4 Instructions to read operation manual before using.7.4.1.5 The following cau

Read owners manual before using.7.4.1.6 Each airsoft gun with energy under two joule shallbe durably marked with the name of the manufacturer,distributor, or retailer; the model number or name th

46、at willallow proper identification of the airsoft gun by the user; andthe caliber of projectile.7.4.2 Airsoft guns with energy over two joule shall beprominently and durably marked to convey the followinginformation at a minimum:7.4.2.1 A signal word “WARNING.”7.4.2.2 A warning that this is not a to

48、ury to the eye.Read owners manual before using.7.4.2.6 Each airsoft gun with energy over two joule shall bedurably marked with the name of the manufacturer, distributor,or retailer; the model number or name that will allow properidentification of the airsoft gun by the user; and the caliber ofprojec

49、tile.7.5 Literature Accompanying Airsoft Guns:7.5.1 The instructions and warnings communicating to theuser the information included in this section shall be providedas a leaflet or brochure packed with the airsoft gun, or attachedto the airsoft gun.7.5.1.1 An appropriate cautionary statement as noted in7.3.3 or 7.3.10 and 7.5.1.5 shall be placed prominently in theliterature or attached to the airsoft gun. Prominence of thestatement shall be achieved by placement within the borders ofa rectangle and by use of a suitable contrasting background.The statement may be in a
