Scope1.1 This specificatio

3、n covers minimum performance re-quirements for newly applied photoluminescent (phosphores-cent) safety materials used to provide supplemental markingsof escape routes, emergency equipment, and obstructions alongthe escape route. (see also Test Method E2073 and GuideE2030).1.2 This specification esta

4、blishes minimum luminance val-ues for photoluminescent (phosphorescent) markings.1.3 This specification applies to all types of photolumines-cent (phosphorescent) markings, including but not limited toplastics, coatings, ceramics, films, etc.1.4 This specification does not cover potentially diminish

5、edperformance due to wear and tear and aging.1.5 This specification applies only to photoluminescent(phosphorescent) markings emitting the majority of spectralenergy within the 515 to 535 nanometer range.1.6 When reference is made regarding photoluminescencein the text of this standard, it implies p

Performance Requirements4.1 Optical Requirements:4.1.1 Luminance in a Test LaboratoryThe photopic lumi-nance of all three specimens of the photoluminescent marking,measured in compliance with Test Method E2073, shall be notless than: 30 mcd/m2at 10 min af

9、ter activation has ceased; and5 mcd/m2at 90 min after activation has ceased.4.2 Walking Surfaces Materials:4.2.1 Photoluminescent safety markings intended to beinstalled on walking surfaces of the means of egress shall havea slip-resistant surface and be securely attached.5. Installation Site5.1 On-

10、Site LuminanceThe photopic luminance of on-siteinstalled photoluminescent markings shall be measured incompliance with Test Method E2073. The on-site lighting shallbe used as activation. Markings must be a minimum of 1-in.(25.4-mm) width. The required photopic luminance shall, at alltimes, be not le

11、ss than:30 mcd/m2at 10 min after activation has ceased;and 5 mcd/m2at 90 min after activation has ceased.5.2 ActivationThe required recharging activation level forphotoluminescent safety markings depends on the ambientluminance level, the type of light source utilized, and theduration of exposure to

LUMINANCE COMPARISON FOLLOWING DIFFERENT ILLUMINATION CONDITI

19、ONSX2.1 In 5.1, On-Site Luminance, Specification E2072 re-quires luminance values at 10 and 60 min. after on-siteactivation has ceased. These values are to be measured at theinstallation site, following Test Method E2073.X2.2 Accomplishing the required luminance values dependson a variety of factors

20、, including but not limited to, the type ofactivating light source, the intensity of illumination (lx/fc) onthe marking surface, the color temperature of illumination (K,Kelvin), the length of illumination and the ambienttemperature, to mention a few factors.X2.3 How different the luminance results

21、may be, depend-ing on changing illumination conditions, is shown in TableX2.1. The luminance values in the table are averages forrandomly selected products. Results will vary for othersamples and other activation conditions.E2072 142X3. SUMMARY OF CHANGESX3.1 This specification was originally publis

22、hed in 2000with luminance values of 20.0 mcd/m2at 10 min afteractivation has ceased and 2.8 mcd/m2at 60 min after activationhas ceased. These values stayed through the 2010 edition andwere updated to harmonize with U. S. Code requirements in the2014 edition.ASTM International takes no position respe
