3、ion investigation under OLFB2 will be evaluated using UL8754 Products submitted for certification investigation under OLFB8 will be evaluated using ULC-S8754OLFB2 / OLFB8 products certified based on evaluation per UL 496 / CSA C22.2 No. 43 will be identifiedin the conditions of acceptability and wil

4、l continue to be Recognized by UL. However, it is expected thatthese products will be either discontinued or updated for compliance with UL 8754 / ULC-S8754 in thenear future. The guide cards for OLFB2 / OLFB8 will be revised at that point to remove the reference toUL 496 / CSA C22.2 No. 43.RATIONAL

5、E FOR GUIDANCE:Prior to July 31, 2013 the guide information pages for product categories Solid-state Lighting Bases,Holders and Connectors OLB2 / OLFB8 indicated that products certified under these categories wereevaluated to applicable requirements of UL 496 / CSA C22.2 No. 43. On July 31, 2013 UL

6、and ULC issuednew bi-national safety standard for Holders, Bases, and Connectors for Solid-State (LED) Light Enginesand Arrays, UL 8754/ULC-S8754.The requirements of UL 8754/ULC S-8754 are based on UL 496 and have been tailored for solid-state(LED) technology. The standard covers holders for LED lig

7、ht engines and arrays that are of aconfiguration not typically found on incandescent or fluorescent light sources and is designed to facilitatethe integration of these components in end-product LED luminaire applications.OLFB2 and OLFB8 products that were evaluated to UL 496 will be identified in th

8、e conditions ofacceptability and will continue to be Recognized by UL.Based on this background, the guide information page for OLFB2 was revised to indicate that productsmay be evaluated to UL 8754 OR UL 496. Likewise the guide information page for OLFB8 was revised toindicate that products may be e

9、valuated to ULC-S8754 OR CSA-C22.2 No.43.UL 496 the standard for incandescent and fluorescent lampholders has been used as a transitionalstandard for LED holders and connectors, but now that UL 8754/UL-S8754 are published and specificallyaddress bases, holders and connectors for solid-state technolo
