19、s definedas the non-interactive dynamic man machine interface between a Vehicle Schedulingand Control System, usually including an Automatic Vehicle Monitoring (AVM)system, and the passenger at a stop point or other location. This interface is basicallyvisual. It may also incorporate an audio commun

20、icator to give audio information ondemand for visually impaired users.This standard covers information content, presentation and location.The audio information presentation is not part of this standard. The standard doesnot cover interactive information devices and does not specify display technolog

25、t any particular dialogue with the passengers.3.2 audio communicatorprovides the speech output of the visual information, particularly for the partiallysighted and blind.3.3 interactive information devicesdisplay unit and input device that allows the passenger to obtain information on thepublic tran

26、sport service (including or not real time information) through a dialoguewith the device, possibly in a more specific or detailed form than that shown on anon-interactive dynamic passenger information VMS.3.4 routeordered list of points (mainly stop points) defining one single path through the road(

30、d subscription and freemailing clients of the SABS .Page 8ENV 13998:20014 LOCATION4.1 GeneralA passenger information VMS should be placed at a location on, or adjacent to, thebus route so that intending passengers can view information concerning the journeythey wish to make. Such places include:Stop

31、 points (at or adjacent to)Terminus pointsTransport interchangesPark and ride terminalsCommercial centresOther areas of high passenger usage4.2 Avoiding obstructionThe location of the passenger information VMS shall be chosen such that:1. it does not disrupt current waiting behaviour, queue formatio

33、 the “street furniture“, the passenger information VMS shall be designedand manufactured with sufficient robustness for protection against vandalism. It maybe fixed to bus shelters or other structures.The equipment shall be capable of operating to recognised environmental standardsof at least IP 54

34、with the appropriate certificate of compliance.5.2 Method of fixingMechanical fixing guidelines shall be issued to manufacturers of the structures towhich a passenger information VMS is to be attached. These guidelines shall ensureeasy disconnection and access for maintenance purposes. Materials for

35、 these fixingsshall afford substantial protection against vandalism.5.3 SizeThe size and design of the housing shall be designed to blend in with any associatedon-street structure, and shall not present any safety hazards to the public wheninstalled. In some locations, the physical size of the passe

36、nger information VMS maybe critical, especially where street furniture with restricted headroom is used.National safety standards shall be complied with.5.4 Environmental conditionsThe equipment shall comply with national environmental standards.SANS 53998:2008This s tandard may only be used and pri

Class 3: Graphic / mimic7.1 Class 1: Text based7.1.1 Mandatory information1. Route number2. End destination if more than one for th

40、e considered line3. Number of minutes to arrival (if more than 60 min, an indication in hours-minutes is acceptable) or clock time of arrival to the stop point to which theVMS refers. If this information is theoretical schedule information instead ofreal time, this shall be indicated specifically;4.

41、 Vehicle approaching , indication corresponding to the situation where thevehicle is too close to the stop point to allow to display a sufficiently accuratenumeric information (a symbolic presentation is preferred and, in that case, itshould be a square preferably blinking ). If the system cannot di

42、fferentiateapproaching, at stop or just departed vehicle, the same indication shall bedisplayed;5. When there is no vehicle information to be displayed (it could be, for example,during night when there is no Public transport service), the VMS shall displaya positive indication that it is still worki

43、ng (for example: no bus service );6. If there is a disruption of the data link providing real time information to theVMS, if there exists a valid time table in the VMS then this information shallbe displayed with the specific indication mentioned above, if there is no validtime table information the

44、n the display shall reverse to a backup indicationwhich can be blank or a special message indicating the faulty situation;7. If the public transport to a specific stop is interrupted or blocked for anyreason (accident, etc), the display of the arrival time shall be blanked orreplaced by a textual in

47、reemailing clients of the SABS .Page 12ENV 13998:20017.1.3 Presentation of the information:Information may be grouped by route or other criteria.In a group, information shall “mirror“ the order of arrival of buses at the stop:in a row format: in order of bus arrival, the first arrival shall be on th

48、e top line.in column format: in order of bus arrival, the first arrival shall be in theleft-hand column.For mandatory information, a line representation is recommended with the routeidentification on the left, then the destination and then the waiting time or time ofarrival.If waiting times are used

49、 the information shall be presented in minutes. Theabbreviations for minutes shall be “min” as specified in ISO 31-1.7.1.4 Alternating rates of mandatory informationThis refers to the alternate display of different information on the same line of theVMS.It is not recommended to alternate between more than 4 different informationmessages,The length of time a frame is held before scrolling or changing to another subset ofthe core bus information shall be:at least 8 seconds for one line of displayat least 8 seconds for two lines of displayat least 10 seconds for three lin
