7、y-mixed concrete trucks. This RP is not mandatory but is a consensus of industry best practices. DEFINITIONS 3.1 Body The transit mixer assembly and associated hardware that is mounted onto a chassis to form a completed ready mixed concrete truck. 3.2 Charge To add material into the drum 3.3 Charge Hopper The funnel-sha
10、ped apparatus at the mouth of the drum that directs material into the drum. 3.4 Chute Extensions Sections that extend the length of the chute during discharge operation, but that can be removed and stored on the vehicle during transport. 3.5 Chute Lock The locking device capable of keeping the main
11、chute from rotating. 3.6 Discharge Hopper The feature that gathers the material as it discharges from the drum and guides it into the main chute. 3.7 Debouncer The feature located at the discharge end of the drum that limits the vertical travel of an empty drum to prevent damage to the roller track.
12、 3.8 Discharge To expel material out of the drum and down the chute. 3.9 Drive Pedestal The structure that supports the drum drive SAE J2967 Issued AUG2013 Page 3 of 12 3.10 Drum The rotating vessel that contains the material during transport 3.11 Drum Access Ladder The series of steps, stairs, or r
13、ungs that provide access to the drum discharge area. 3.12 Drum Drive The assembly of parts that cause the drum to rotate. 3.13 Drum Hatch The hatch located at the wide portion of the drum used to access or inspect the interior of the drum. 3.14 Drum Roller Track The ring on the drum that rides on th
14、e drum support rollers. 3.15 Drum Support Rollers The wheels that support the drum during rotation. 3.16 Equivalent Diameter The diameter of a circle with the same cross-sectional area of an irregularly shaped object. 3.17 Fold-Over Chute The second section of chute that is permanently attached to t
15、he main chute and can be folded out of the way during transport. 3.18 Main Chute The first section of chute that is permanently attached beneath the discharge hopper and can be maneuvered to position the chute. 3.19 Manufacturer The original or any intermediate or final-stage manufacturer prior to t
16、he ready mixed concrete truck being offered for sale. 3.20 Modification To alter the vehicle or equipment in a manner that is not consistent with the Original Equipment Manufacturers design. 3.21 Operator An employee who is trained and authorized by the employer to operate a ready mixed concrete tru
17、ck. 3.22 Pusher Axle Auxiliary axle or axles located in front of the rear drive axles that can be raised or lowered during transport. 18、ion. 3.24 Remote Engine Control Any device capable of controlling engine speed other than the vehicles accelerator pedal. 3.25 Roller Pedestal The supporting structure at the discharge end of the drum. 3.26 Shall This word is understood to be mandatory 3.27 Should This word is understood to be advis
19、ory 3.28 Tag Axle Auxiliary axle or axles located behind the rear drive axles, but within the normal length of the vehicle, that can be raised or lowered during transport 3.29 Toe-Board Solid lower part of a guard-rail on a platform or landing to prevent the fall of objects from a floor level. 3.30
20、Extended Tag Axle An axle that extends past the rear of the vehicle to distribute the load for bridge law compliance. 3.31 Wash-Out Platform The standing surface next to the charge hopper that allows the operator access to spray the charge hopper with water. 3.32 Wash-Out Platform Access Opening The
21、 area where the operator steps onto the platform from the access ladder or steps. 3.33 Water Tank The vessel used to provide a water source for washing the material off of the mixer parts, and for adding water to the mix at the job site. 22、d Manufacture Ready Mixed Concrete Trucks manufactured in accordance with this recommended practice shall be permanently identified with the name of the final stage manufacturer, the date of manufacture (or a code traceable to the date of manufacture), and a compliance statement attesting to conform
23、ity with this recommended practice. 4.2 Body mounting A user of this document who installs bodies upon chassis is considered to be the final stage manufacturer for the purposes of this recommended practice. They shall permanently identify the name of their company, the date of mounting, and a compli
24、ance statement attesting to conformity with this recommended practice. 4.3 Reconstruction A user of this document reconstructing (including where modifications occur) ready mixed concrete trucks after the effective date of this recommended practice shall do so in accordance with all clauses of this
