I Scope:- This specification covers sockets for holding various types of taper-shank cutting tools in machine spindles and turrets. 1.2 Classification. - Sockets shali be of the following type

9、rdness. - Sockets shall be furpished hardened or unhardened as specified (see 6. i). Sockets specified as unhardened shali have the tangs heat treated to a minimum Rockwell Y!” hardness of 30 or be undercut or relieved at the option of the manufacturer. Sockets specified as hardened shall have the t

10、angs and hole ends heat treated to a minimum Rockwell “C” hardriess of 50, except that type Ili, class 1 with taper hole sizes of AS taper No. 4 and larger shall be fully hardened. 3.5 Finish. - The shank taper on ail sockets shallbe ground concentric with the hole taper. The. hole taper shall be re

11、amed except for fully hardened type Ill sockets in sizes with standard taper holes of No, 4 and larger which shall. be ground. 3.6 Marking, - Each socket sall.be permanently marked with the manufacturers name or with a . trade-mark of such known character that the source of manufacture may be readil

16、ood, wirebound corrugated or solid fiberboard boxes conforming to Specification “93-591, PPP-B-601 (domestic types), PPP-B-585, LLL-B-631, or LLL-B-636, respectively. The gross weight of wood boxes and wood-cleated fiberboaPd boxes shall not exceed approximately 200 pounds; of fiberboard boxes 90 po

Containers shall be in accordance with the Consolidated Freight Classification Rules or regulations of other carriers as applicable to the mode of transportation. 5.3 Markins. - In addition to any specialmarking required by the contract or order, marking for ship- ment

18、 shall be in accordance with Standard MIL-STD-129. 5.2.3 Level C. - The sockets shall be packed in a manner to insure carrier acceptance and safe 6. NOTES 6.1 Orderinq data. - Procurement documents should specify the following: (a) Title, number, and date of this specification. (b) Type, class, styl

19、e andsizes of sockets required (see 1.2 and applicable tables of sizes). (c) Whether hqdened or unhardened (see 3.4). (d) Whether preservation and packaging should be level A or C, and whether packing should be by level A, B, or C (see section 5). Notice. - When Government drawings, specifications,
