After initial publication, future maintenance was transferred to

The content of this Standard Practice is the resulting efforts of competent and experienced volunteers to provide an effective, clear, and non-exclusive standard that will benefit the industry as a whole. This MSS Standard Practice describes minimal requirements and is intended as a basis for
4、 common practice by the manufacturer, the user, and the general public. The existence of an MSS Standard Practice does not in itself preclude the manufacture, sale, or use of products not conforming to the Standard Practice. Mandatory conformance to this Standard Practice is established only by refe
5、rence in other documents such as a code, specification, sales contract, or public law, as applicable. MSS has no power, nor does it undertake, to enforce or certify compliance with this document. Any certification or other statement of compliance with the requirements of this Standard Practice shall

SCOPE 1.1 T
17、his Standard Practice establishes general requirements for valves and fittings for use in silicone-free service requiring an increased level of cleanliness. Specific requirements include: a) Cleaning b) Assembly and Testing of Valves c) Inspection and Acceptance d) Packaging e) Marking 1.2 Purpose T
18、his Standard Practice is intended for applications such as painting systems which are sensitive to silicone contamination and for other services requiring an increased level of cleanliness above that of standard industrial valves and fittings. 2. OBJECTIVE 2.1 The objective of this Standard Practice
19、 is to present methods that, when properly applied and combined, will yield a degree of cleanliness suitable for silicone-free systems. 2.2 The proper combination of methods depends upon the component(s), method of manufacture, and if silicone contamination is present. 3. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS 3.1 An
20、y cleaning agent used must be compatible with the material of the component being cleaned. 3.2 Chloride-free cleaning agents shall be used on stainless steel. 3.3 This Standard Practice does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. ADVISORY: It is the respo
21、nsibility of the user of this Standard Practices to establish appropriate safety and health practices, and to determine the applicability of regulatory limitations. 3.4 Used cleaning solutions shall be disposed of in accordance with appropriate hazardous waste regulations. 3.5 Cleaning, inspection,
22、post-clean testing, and packaging shall be conducted by properly trained and qualified personnel knowledgeable of this Standard Practice. _ INFORMATIONAL NOTE: Piping and flanges are outside the scope of this Standard Practice. However, flanges are covered only if they are integral to the valve or f
23、itting. MSS STANDARD PRACTICE SP-1402 4. CLEANING 4.1 Valves Prior to assembling the valve, all parts shall be separately cleaned per the following procedure: 4.1.1 The area for cleaning shall be clean and dust-free. All cleaning shall be performed in an area that is free from silicone and airborne
24、silicone particles. 4.1.2 The assembly bench shall be covered with a clean polyethylene sheet or equivalent. 4.1.3 A full-length lint-free lab coat, or equivalent, and lint-free gloves shall be worn while in the cleaning area. 4.1.4 All valve part surfaces shall be thoroughly cleaned using appropria
