E.123 (2001)/Amd.1 (05/2008) i ITU-T Recommendation E.123 Notation for national and international telephone numbers, e-mail addresses and Web addresses Amendment 1 Summary Amendment 1 to ITU-T Recommendation E.123 applies specifically to the printing of national and international telephon

11、e numbers, electronic mail addresses and Web addresses on letterheads, business cards, bills, etc. Regard has been given to the printing of existing telephone directories. The standard notation for printing telephone numbers, e-mail addresses and Web addresses helps to reduce difficulties and errors

12、, since this address information must be entered exactly to be effective. 13、l Telecommunication Union (ITU) is the United Nations specialized agency in the field of telecommunications, information and communication technologies (ICTs). The ITU Telecommunication Standardization Sector (ITU-T) is a permanent organ of ITU. ITU-T is responsible for studying technical, operating

14、 and tariff questions and issuing Recommendations on them with a view to standardizing telecommunications on a worldwide basis. The World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly (WTSA), which meets every four years, establishes the topics for study by the ITU-T study groups which, in turn, produc

15、e Recommendations on these topics. The approval of ITU-T Recommendations is covered by the procedure laid down in WTSA Resolution 1. In some areas of information technology which fall within ITU-Ts purview, the necessary standards are prepared on a collaborative basis with ISO and IEC. NOTE In this

16、Recommendation, the expression “Administration“ is used for conciseness to indicate both a telecommunication administration and a recognized operating agency. Compliance with this Recommendation is voluntary. However, the Recommendation may contain certain mandatory provisions (to ensure e.g. intero

17、perability or applicability) and compliance with the Recommendation is achieved when all of these mandatory provisions are met. The words “shall“ or some other obligatory language such as “must“ and the negative equivalents are used to express requirements. The use of such words does not suggest tha

18、t compliance with the Recommendation is required of any party. 22、Emergency contact number notation In order to facilitate calling of family members or other contact persons in case of emergency, owners of a mobile handset can indicate such contact numbers by the following notation, to be entered into the “name“ field of the handsets directory. The “number“ field

23、would contain the actual contact number. Format of the name: 0nX, where n is a digit from 1 through 9 and X is any meaningful descriptive character string (for example, “spouse“, or “home number“).
