The steel shall be killed. 2 Manufacturing Process The choice of melting process, method of casting and forming process are the prerogative of the manufacturer. In special cases, however, such details may be agreed upon on the order (see material releas

13、favourable structure for subsequent cold drawing. 5 Application This steel is primarily used for coil springs (tension, compression and torsion springs), spring washers, and other wire springs with high static and medium dynamic stresses, having a nominal diameter of I 5 mm. This spring steel wire h

14、owever is not suitable for applicatlons where higher dynamic and thermal stresses are required e. g. valve springs. 6 Note Samples of components or material released to this specification shall be tested for conformity with the requirements of this specification and approved by Product Engineering D

15、epartment prior to commencement of delivery of bulk supplies. In the event of any intentional deviations from the requirements of this specification, it is the sole responsibility of the supplier to inform the purchaser of all such deviations. Furthermore, the supplier shall submit unsolicited sampl

19、all twist uniformly, the fracture shall be perpendicular to the axis of the wire. There shall be no surface cracks discernable to the eye. Incipient resilience cracks and resilience cracks shall not be included in the evaluation. 7.4 Wrapping Test The wrapping test shall be conducted to evaluate the

20、 uniformity of formability and surface quality for small wire diameters up to 0,7 mm. A test piece approximately 500 mm long shall be tightly wrapped around a mandrel having a diameter of approxlmately 3 x d (d = wire dia), but, ar least 1 mm. The test piece shall then be extended until the length o

21、f the released spring Is two to four times the wrapped length. Subsequently, the spring shall have perfect surface quality and uniform pitch of the coil. 7.5 Weldability This steel 1s not suitable for fusion or resistance welding. 7.6 Surface Quality other defects which could impair the serviceabili

22、ty, function or appearance of the parts. The permissible depth of the surface defects shall not exceed 1 % of the wire diameter. (only for wire dia 1 0,8 mm) 7.6.2 Special requirements for surface quality shall be quoted on the drawing or release note. “7.6.1 The surface of the wires shall be smooth

25、ginal height after compression to block height for 30 times, If no other height is specified on the drawing. 8.3 Electrolytlcally zlnc coated springs shall be tempered as specified in GME O0 252 to prevent hydrogen embrittlement. 8.4 Deviations from the requirements specified in these technical term

26、s of delivery or additional requirements shall have been agreed upon. These shall be indicated on the respective engineering drawing and/or material release. 9 Test Procedure 9.1 All tests shall be made at + 23C f 5 K 9.2 The following standards are appllcable when testin DIN 51 210, part 1, 4.1976
