2、4-A RESIN BONDED NOT TO BE USED FOR NEW DESIGN 1. SCOPE The coating defined by this specification is a resin bonded fluorocarbon which possesses excellent adhesion and imparts corrosion resistance to steel substrates. 2. APPLICATION This specification was originally released to provide corrosion res
3、istance to steel components such as throttle body shafts. This specification was not intended for coatings which require specific friction or wear characteristics. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 QUALITY SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS Material suppliers and part producers must conform to Quality System Requirements, QS-90
4、00. Material specification requirements are to be used for initial qualification of materials. A Control Plan for ongoing production verification is required. This plan must be reviewed and approved by the relevant Ford Materials activity and/or Ford Supplier Technical Assistance (STA) prior to prod
5、uction parts submission. Appropriate statistical tools must be used to analyze process/product data and assure consistent processing of the materials. Part producers using this material in their products, must use Ford approved materials and must conform to a process control plan which has been appr
6、oved by STA and/or the relevant Materials Activity. 3.2 INFRARED SPECTROPHOTOMETRY AND/OR THERMAL ANALYSIS Ford Motor Company, at its option, may conduct infrared and/or thermal analysis of material/parts supplied to this specification. The IR spectra and thermograms established for initial approval
7、 shall constitute the reference standard and shall be kept on file at the designated material laboratory. All samples shall produce IR spectra and thermograms that correspond to the reference standard when tested under the same conditions. ENGINEERING MATERIAL SPECIFICATION WSS-M21P34-A Page 2 of 4
8、3.3 APPLICATION TECHNIQUE The coatings shall be applied by spray techniques based on processes and materials originally approved by the affected product engineering department. Process sheet and substrate treatment to be on file at the approving materials activity. 3.4 APPEARANCE The coating shall b
9、e uniform in color and coverage. It shall be free of obvious imperfections as determined by unaided visual examination. The coatings shall be smooth to the touch and also free of cracks when observed at a magnification of 10X. 3.5 FILM THICKNESS The min film thickness shall be adequate to pass all p
10、erformance, engineering, and functional requirements. However, finished part dimensions are to be specified on engineering drawings and measured by non-contact methods to be specified by the product engineering office. 3.6 ADHESION (FLTM BI 106-01, Method A; use a 13 mm scratch and additionally test
