SCOPE The material defined by this specification is a sheet composed of homopolymer polypropylene matrix, reinforced with 40% by weight, continuous glass fiber reinforcement. The reinforcement is arranged in a swirl pattern to give essentia
3、lly isotropic properties. This sheet is specifically designed for thermoplastic stamping. 2. APPLICATION This specification was released originally for material used to manufacture engine covers, load floors and battery trays. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 STATISTICAL PROCESS Suppliers must conform to the req
4、uirements of Ford Quality System Standard Q-101, with control charts and process data analyzed according to Ford Continuing Process Control and Process Capability Improvement Manual. Additionally, a Control Plan is required for initial material/source approval. 3.2 INFRARED SPECTROPHOTOMETRY AND/OR
5、THERMAL ANALYSIS Ford Motor Company, at its option, may conduct infrared and/or thermal analysis of material/parts supplied to this specification. The IR spectra and thermogram established for initial approval shall constitute the reference standard and shall be kept on file at the designated materi
6、al laboratory. All samples shall produce IR spectra and thermogram that correspond to the reference standard when tested under the same conditions. 3.3 MOLDED TEST SPECIMENS 3.3.1 Preparation of Test Specimens All test specimens shall be prepared from stamped sheets, approximately 200 x 200 x 3.2 +
7、0.2 mm. Preparation of the test specimens shall be according to ASTM D 1928, technique 5.
