17、t 13a: Engaging and separating forces 1 Scope and object This part of IEC 60512, when required by the detail specification, is used for testing connectors within the scope of IEC technical committee 48. It may also be used for similar devices when specified in a detail specification. The object of t

18、his part of IEC 60512 is to detail a standard test method to measure the force to fully engage or separate mating connectors, including the effect of any locking, latching, sealing, engaging, separating or similar device, that assists or resists such operation. This test method may also be used to m

19、easure separate parts of the force(s) required to fully engage or separate mating connectors; e.g. the locking force of a (separate) coupling device. NOTE 1 If the force(s) are composed of two or more parts, it may not be possible to express these as an overall value. In which case, the detail speci

20、fication should give requirements in a manner to identify such separate parts. NOTE 2 The term force is used in its generic sense, and will therefore include lateral and oblique force, torque and leverage moments. These may in some cases have a negative value. For example, a locking device may pull-

22、rs for electronic equipment Tests and measurements Part 1-1: General examination Test 1a: Visual examination 3 Preparations 3.1 Preparation of specimen The specimen shall consist of a mating pair of connectors with their terminated contacts, as given in the detail specification. Any tools necessary

23、for this test, whether general or specific shall be provided, as and if, required by the detail specification. 3.2 Lubricant If the detail specification so requires, the specified lubricant shall be applied in the manner given in the connector detail specification. EN 60512-13-1:2006 4 3.3 Mounting

24、One of the connector parts shall be rigidly fixed in position. The mating part shall be free to self-align using only such means that are provided by the connectors under test. 4 Method 4.1 Rate of engagement and separation The rate of engagement and separation shall be 50 mm/min maximum, at constan

25、t speed; unless otherwise stated in the detail specification. 4.2 Engagement and separation The connectors shall be fully engaged and separated in a normal manner, i.e. any locking or latching feature shall be operated in the appropriate manner; unless special instructions are given in the detail sp

26、ecification, these instructions shall have precedence. Any tool, jack-screw, levers or other assisting devices provided or specified, shall be used. This shall be done the number of times stated in the detail specification. 4.3 Measurements 4.3.1 Initial measurements Visual examination according to

27、IEC 60512-1-1 shall be done. There shall be no defects, which would impair the validity of the test. 4.3.2 Test measurements The forces to fully engage and separate the connectors shall be measured. This shall be done as many times as required by the detail specification. At least, the forces for th

28、e first and last cycle shall be recorded. 4.3.3 Final measurements Visual examination according to IEC 60512-1-1 shall be done with 10u magnifications. Any defects, which would impair the normal functioning of the connector, shall be documented. 5 Details to be specified When this test is required b

29、y a detail specification, the following shall be given therein: a) maximum value of the engaging force; b) maximum and minimum values of the separating force; c) rate of engagement and separation, if other than that given in 4.1; d) number of engaging and separating cycles; e) special tools or gauge
