15、Dielectric Capacitors) 1. 2. 2.1 a 2.2 2.3 SCOPE This standard describes the requirements for film-paper and film dielectric capacitors impregnated and/or filled with non-PCB oil. They are intended for use in half wave or full wave voltage doubler power supplies of microwave ovens or other equipment

16、 operated from 50-60 Hz power lines. DEFI NITIONS Rated Voltage Rated voltage is the maximum steady-state root-mean-square (rms) operating voltage and is equal to the: peak-to-peak voltage/(2*(2).5) Rated voltage shall not include the dc component of an application. Peak-to-peak voltage is the maxim

17、um total change in voltage applied between the capacitor terminal during repetitive cycles. Rated Case Temperatures Rated case temperature is the maximum allowable hot spot developed at any point on the case surface. Service Life Objective The service life objective is the design life capability as

18、determined by accelerated life tests and/or data from field performance. (See 22.1). The protective device shall be identified by the letter “P“. 3.9.1.1 This protective device is intended to prevent case rupture and expulsion of internal m

28、aterial when used within the current and vottage fault rating of this device. 3.9.1.2 A minimum clearance above the capacitor terminals is required for effective operation of the protective device. Manufacturer should be consulted for minimum recommended clearance after installation. 3.9.2 Discharge

29、 resistor shall be identified by the letter “R“ and shall discharge the capacitor to less that 50 volts within 60 seconds after disconnection of the capacitor from the voitage supply. The resistor may be connected either internally or externally at the option of the user. 3.9.3 Ground lug shall be i

30、dentified by the letter “G“. (see Appendix for ground lug details.) 3.9.4 Diode, internally connected, shall be identified by the letter “D“. Physical appearance shall be uniform in quality and capacitors shall be free from pits, corrosion, cracks, roug

39、h edges and other defects that will affect life, serviceability or appearance. DIELECTRIC WITHSTANDING VOLTAGE TESTS Between terminals - Capacitors shall be capable of withstanding the application of a dc voltage equal to three times rated ac voltage rating for one minute. Capacitors shall be discharged through a 10,O ohm resistor to l

42、imit the current. Terminals to case - Capacitors with standard cup terminal insulators shall be capable of withstanding 10 kV dc for one minute. Capacitors with high cup terminal insulators shall be capable of withstanding 13 kV dc for one minute. CAPACITANCE TEST Capacitance measurement shall be ma

43、de on an ac bridge of 600 Vac 60 Hz voltage applied or shall be referred to such measurement. Values of capacitance measured shall be within the specified tolerance at or referred to a temperature of 23“ C. Accuracy of measurement shall be k 0.5%. DISSIPATION FACTOR TEST Dissipation factor DF of eac

44、h capacitor shall not exceed 0.3% for film-paper dielectric when measured with 600 Vac Hz voltage applied to any temperature between 23“ C and 80“ C. The average DF at 65 C shall not exceed the average DF at 23“ C. SEAL TEST Capacitors shall be capable of withstanding a temperature of IO“ C over rat

45、ed case temperature in circulating air for a 10 minute period past the time the entire capacitor has reached that temperature without evidence of leakage of the impregnant. Capacitors shall be capable of Withstanding two thermal cycles each consisting of 24 hours at -55“ C followed by 24 hours at ro

46、om temperature without evidence of leakage of the impregnant. CORONA TEST Capacitors shall be capable of meeting corona inception voltage (CIV) and corona extinguishing voltage (CEV) requirements using test facilities, procedures and limits agreed to between user and the supplier. Capacitors shall be tes

48、ted in accordance with Sections 9, 10 and 11 at the completion of 14.1 . SALT SPRAY TEST Painted finished shall be capable of withstanding 500 hours sait spray test per EIA Recommended Standard EIA-186-5E, Type li test, with less that 5% of the case surface showing finish breakdown or case failure w

49、hen rust is removed. Test shall be conducted with 5% salt in the water at a temperature of 35“ C. PROTECTIVE DEVICE Protective device shall meet test requirements as agreed to between the user and the supplier. SOLDERABILITY Solder type terminals shall be easily soldered using tin-lead solders with noncorrosive fluxes and standard soldering techniques. TERMINAL STRENGTH Terminals shall be capable of withstanding 3 inch-pounds-force (3.5 kg-cm) of torque and 50 pounds-force (26.7 kg) of axial compression and puli without damage.
