3、horized the use of this commercial item description for all federal agencies. 1. SCOPE. This commercial item description (CID) establishes the government acquisition requirements for beam indicating weighing scales to be used as accurate weighing instruments. A-A-52021 specifies the requirements for

4、 a single type of scale therefore no classification as to type or style will be noted in this CID. 2. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS 2.1 Metals. Metals shall be corrosion-resistant or metal made corrosion-resistant by a suitable treatment. 2.2 Scales. The scales shall be of a beam type and have a capacity

5、of 20 kilograms (kg). The scales shall consist of the following components: a. Main bar with a 1000-gram (g) capacity, marked in 100g increments b. Fractional bar with a 100g capacity marked in 1g increments c. Tare weigh bar with a 2kg capacity d. Suspension plate with a means of attaching it to th

6、e beam e. Counterpoise weights: one each 1kg, 5kg, 10kg, and two each 2 kg f. REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS. 3.1 Recovered material

7、s. The offeror/contractor is encouraged to use recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable, in accordance with paragraph 23.403 of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR). 4. PRODUCT CONFORMANCE PROVISIONS. 4.1 Product conformance. The products provided shall meet the salient characterist

8、ics of this CID, conform to the producers own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices, and be the same product offered for sale in the commercial marketplace. The government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance. 4.2 Market acceptability. The products o

9、ffered must have been previously sold either to the government or on the commercial market. 5. PACKAGING. 5.1 Preservation, packing, and marking. Preservation, packing, and marking shall be as specified in the contract or acquisition order (see 6.4(b). 5.2 Overseas packaging. Movable components of t

10、he balance shall be secured in a manner that will prevent movement or damage during shipment and storage. The balances shall be packed in a fiberboard box conforming to ASTM D5118/D5118M, “Standard Practice for Fabrication of Fiberboard Shipping Boxes“. The box shall be closed, waterproofed, and rei

11、nforced in accordance with ASTM D1974/D1974M, “Fiberboard Boxes, Methods of Closing, Sealing, and Reinforcing “. 5.3 Overseas marking. Marking shall be in accordance with MIL-STD-129, “Standard Practice for Military Marking“, or FED-STD-123, “Marking for Shipment (Civil Agencies)“, as applicable. 5.

12、4 Domestic packaging, packing, palletization, and marking. Packaging, packing, palletization and marking shall be in accordance with ASTM D 3951, “Standard Practice for Commercial Packaging“. 6.
