21、mber 20085.3.8 A door or cover that gives access to electrical components shall require a tool to open and be hinged or otherwise attached.5.3.9 Storage compartments for rollers, pins, cords, etc., shall be subject to investigation with regard to the eventual occurrence of a shock or fire hazard res

22、ulting from such conditions of use or storage as cord sets being subjected to temperatures exceeding the rating of the insulation or metal accessories contacting live parts.5.3.10 A handheld hair dryer other than a household type that complies with the requirements of Clause 8.5 (see Clause 5.21), a

23、nd that has a metal screen or guard at the air exhaust opening(s) shall have a second screen not less than 6.35 mm and conductively insulated from the first screen, unless the heating element is 50 mm or more from the air exhaust opening. Each screen or guard shall meet the requirements of Clause 5.

24、3.2.5.4 Mechanical assembly5.4.1 Parts used in the construction of equipment shall have adequate strength and shall be assembled and secured in position to ensure proper and nonhazardous functioning under both the normal and the abnormal conditions that can be met in service. Adhesives shall not be

25、employed as the sole means of securing enclosures or materials supporting live parts.5.4.2 Switches, lampholders, thermostats, etc., shall be fastened securely and rigidly to maintain the required clearances. Where such components are held by a single screw and lockwasher, e.g., stem-mounted control

26、s, they shall be prevented from turning by a key or equivalent if movement can result in a hazardous condition.Friction between surfaces shall not be used as a means of preventing the turning of live parts.5.4.3 The operating mechanism of switches or controls shall not subject electrical parts to un

27、due strain.5.4.4 Lamps shall be protected from damage either by their location or by the provision of a suitable guard.5.4.5 Screws or other fastenings holding insulating parts or enclosures shall not be so tight as to result in cracking or breaking of such parts due to expansion and contraction.5.4

28、.6 Soldered connections shall be mechanically secured. If the nature and location of a soldered connection is such that loosening of the solder can occur, and if such loosening can result in grounding or short-circuiting of live parts, or other unsafe conditions, the connection shall be made mechani

29、cally secure before soldering.5.4.7 If equipment utilizes liquids, electrical components shall be located so that there will be no likelihood of collection of moisture on, or flooding of, such parts as a result of overflow, splashing, or dripping of condensed vapour from pipes, tanks, or the like, o

31、.5.5 Supply connections5.5.1 Permanently connected equipment5.5.1.1 Permanently connected equipment shall have provision for connection to the supply circuit by means of conduit or equivalent, as required by the CEC, Part I.5.5.1.2 Where openings for conduit are provided in sheet metal enclosures, t

32、he metal shall be not less than 0.76 mm thick if made of sheet steel or 1.27 mm thick if made of non-ferrous metal.5.5.1.3 Terminal boxes or wiring compartments in which supply connections are made shall be located so that the connections will be accessible for inspection with the equipment installe

33、d as intended.5.5.1.4 No conductor shall pass through a removable cover.5.5.2 Cord-connected equipment5.5.2.1 Cord-connected commercial equipment shall be provided with a power supply cord not less than 1524 mm long, terminating in a suitable attachment plug for connection to the supply circuit, exc

34、ept for non-handheld equipment where a separate cord set and a suitable detachable means of connection are provided. The maximum length shall be restricted to 3660 mm.Cord-connected household equipment shall be provided with a power supply cord not less than 1524 mm long, terminating in a suitable a

35、ttachment plug for connection to the supply circuit, except for non-handheld equipment where a separate cord set and a suitable detachable means of connection are provided. The maximum length shall be restricted to 2743 mm.5.5.2.2 Power supply cords, cord sets, and interconnecting cords shall have a

36、 voltage rating not less than the rated voltage of the equipment and shall have an ampacity at least equal to the input in amperes corresponding to maximum normal load conditions. The type of supply cord shall be as shown in Table 2, or the equivalent.5.5.2.3 The power supply cord, or at least one o
