23、pliedinliquidformuseabrush,arolleroracoatingmachine, forsolidlastingadhesivesuseanapplicatorequippedwithameltingchamberandanapplicatornozzlewiththe followingrequirements: a)Themeltingchambershallheattheadhesivebyanelectricdevicetoitsapplicationtemperature(usually between100 Cand300 C).Thetemperature

24、ofthenozzleshallbekeptwithin5 Cofthespecified temperature. b)Theapplicatorshallallowtheevendistributionoftheadhesiveoverthetestpiecesurface.Itshallincludeanair drivenormechanicalsystemwhichproducesacontrolleddoseofthemeltedadhesive.Theuseofanozzlewith severalorificesisrecommendedasitfacilitatesthedi

34、ersurface oftheknifeshallbeatrightanglestotheplaneofthematerialtobecut.Thedepthofthecutshallbegreaterthan thethicknessofthematerialbeingcut. NOTEItisrecommendedthatathicksheetofpaperbelaidbetweenthematerialandthecuttingblock. 9.3.3 Preparationofbondingsurfaces Preparethematerialsurfacesinaccordancew

35、iththeinstructionsoftheadhesivesupplier.Ifthereisnoinformation availablecleanthesurfacestobebondedbyahandbrush(6.2)sothattheyarefreefromcontamination. 9.3.4 Preparationoftheadhesive TakeasignificantsampleoftheadhesivetobetestedinaccordancewithEN1066andexamineandprepareitin accordancewithEN1067.Store

36、thesampleinaclosedcontainerat(232) Cuntilithascompletelyreachedthis temperature. 9.3.5 Applicationofliquidadhesivesandbondingoftestpieces Unlessotherwisespecifiedandrecordedinthetestreport: Weigheachpreparedstrip Applytheadhesive(305)minafterthepreparationofthesurfacetobebonded(9.3.3)atacontrolled t

Coattheadhesiveuptothe30mmmarkonthestripssothata30mmlengthisfreefromadhesive.Allow adryingintervalof(305)minbefore

38、applyingthenextcoat,unlessotherwisespecifiedbytheadhesive manufacturer.Reweigheachstripandcalculatethetotalquantityofdryadhesiveapplied. Recordthequantityofadhesiveapplied,thenumberofcoats,andthetimebetweenadhesiveapplications inthetestreport. Betweentheapplicationoftheadhesiveandtheassemblingofthet

39、wostripsallowthefinaladhesivecoat todryfor(305)minatacontrolledtemperatureof(235) Candarelativehumidityoflessthan70%. Activatetheadhesivecoatsbyusingaheatactivator(6.4)ensuringthattheoptimumactivationtempera ture,usually(855) C,isreachedwithin15s. NOTEIftheoptimumactivationtemperaturewhichensuresafu

40、llcoalescenceoftheadhesivecoatwithinthepressing timeisunknown,preliminarytestsshouldbemade. Determinethesurfacetemperatureoftheadhesiveusinganyofthedevicesspecifiedin6.5. Recordtheactivationtemperaturemeasured,thedeviceandhowitwasusedinthetestreport. Assembletwoactivatedcoatsimmediatelyaftertheirrem

42、tpieces Heattheapplicatortoatemperaturewhichwillallowadhesiveremainedfromprevioususetobeflushedout.To dothis,addsomeoftheadhesivetobetested(previouslycuttosizeifnecessary),allowtheadhesivetomeltin themeltingchamberandapplyittopaperorotherscrapmaterial,untilitappearstobethesamecolourand freefrompollu

43、tants.Repeatthisprocesswithfurtheradhesiveuntilthewholemeltingchamberisclean. Rechargethemeltingchamberandadjustittotherequiredapplicationtemperature.Applyasuitableamountof adhesive,injustonecoatwiththenozzle,totheareaofthetestpiecetobebonded.Immediatelyplacethe otherstripofmaterialontopandapplysufficientpressuretoachieveahomogeneouslayerofadhesive, thicknessapproximately0,4mm.
