3、uentlyidentifiedandusedinmethodsunderthejurisdictionofthevarioustechnicalcommitteeswithinASTM.ThevariousthermometersspecifiedarelistedinTable1.TheinclusionofanIPnumberinTable1indicates,whereappearing,thatthethermometerspecificationhasbeenjointlyagreeduponbytheBritishInstituteofPetroleum(IP)andASTM.1
4、.2Thisspecificationalsocoversadjustable-rangeenclosed-scalethermometers,graduatedindegreesCelsius,whichareusedinASTMmethods.1.3Theenclosed-scalethermometersarecommonlycalledBeckmannthermometers.Theyaresuitableformeasuringsmalltemperaturedifferencesnotexceeding6Cwithinalargerrangeoftemperature.Thethe
5、rmometersareunsuitableformeasuringCelsius-orkelvin-scaletemperaturesunlesstheyhavebeencomparedwithstandardinstrumentsimmediatelybeforeuse.1.4AnalphabeticlistoftheASTMThermometersincludedinthisstandardisgiveninTable2.1.5AlistofASTMThermometersisgiveninTable3tofacilitateselectionaccordingtotemperature
