Scope1.1 This specification covers the requirements of a highoctane number fuel suitable for spark-ignition engines to
3、 beutilized in ground vehicles that will require 100 research octanenumber (RON) minimum rated fuel.1.1.1 The fuels described by this specification are intendedfor developing technologies that lead to reduced vehicle energyconsumption, such as higher compression ratio, higher powerdensity, increased
4、 turbocharger boost pressure, smaller sweptdisplacement volume, and operation at lower engine speeds.1.1.2 The fuels described in this test fuel specification mayor may not meet all of the performance or regulatory require-ments for use in vehicles using commercial gasoline.1.2 The fuels covered in
5、this specification may containoxygenates, such as alcohols and ethers, at up to 50 % byvolume. This specification covers fuels that may contain bothfossil and bio-derived components.1.2.1 Fuels containing methanol are not included in thisspecification.1.3 This specification provides a description of
6、 high RONfuel for automotive spark-ignition engines that are not cur-rently in the marketplace but are being developed and requirea defined standard test fuel. The high RON fuel could becomeavailable in the marketplace if/when such engines are intro-duced in commerce. The specification is under cont
7、inuousreview, which can result in revisions based on changes in fuel,automotive requirements, or test methods, or a combinationthereof.All users of this specification, therefore, should refer tothe latest edition.NOTE 1If there is any doubt as to the latest edition of SpecificationD8076, contact AST
