When referencing this document, the word 9Proposal9 must precede the P designation.INTRODUCTIONThese tables were developed from body measurements used currently by apparel manufacturers andretail org
3、anizations. The measurements were derived originally from the 1970 Voluntary ProductStandard PS 36-70 by the U.S. Department of Commerce National Bureau of Standards.21. Scope1.1 These tables list body measurements of boys, sizes 8 to14 Slim and 8 to 20 Regular. Although these are bodymeasurements,
4、they can be used as a baseline in designingapparel for boys and students in this size range when consid-ering such factors as fabric type, ease for body movement,styling, and fit.1.2 These tables list body measurements for Slim andRegular. Slim subjects are of same stature (height), with aslimmer bo
5、dy, and lower body weight than regular subjects asillustrated by the measurement charts.1.3 The values stated in either acceptable SI units orinch-pound units shall be regarded separately as standard. Thevalues stated in each system may not be exact equivalents;therefore, each system must be used in
6、dependently of the other,without combining values in any way.1.4 This standard does not purport to address all of thesafety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is theresponsibility of the user of this standard to establish appro-priate safety and health practices and determine the applica-

Significance and Use4.1 The use of the body measurement information in Tables1-4 will assist manufacturers
9、 in developing patterns andgarments that are consistent with the current anthropometriccharacteristics of the population of interest. These tablesshould in turn reduce or minimize consumer confusion anddissatisfaction related to apparel sizing. (Also refer toISO 3635.)5. Apparatus5.1 Tape Measure, d

17、t.6.2.7 Armscye CircumferenceWith the arm down, mea-sure the distance from the shoulder joint through the front-break point, the armpit, the back-break point, and back up tothe starting point.6.2.8 Upper-Arm GirthMeasure the circumference of thearm midway between the elbow and shoulder joint.6.2.9 E
18、lbow GirthMeasure the circumference of the el-bow while the arm is bent at 1.57 rad (90).6.2.10 Thigh GirthMeasure the circumference of theupper leg close to the crotch.6.2.11 Knee GirthWith the leg straight, measure the kneecircumference over the knee cap and parallel to the floor.6.2.12 Calf Girth
19、Measure the maximum circumferenceof the lower leg between the knee and the ankle and parallel tothe floor.6.2.13 Ankle GirthMeasure the ankle circumference overthe inner and outer bony prominence at the lower end of thelower leg.6.2.14 Total Vertical Trunk LengthMeasure from a pointon the shoulder,
