Scope Scope*1.1 This specification covers requirements and test methods for the material, dimensions, and workmanship, and the propertiesof extruded shapes of rods and bars made from poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC), and chlorinated

4、 poly(vinyl chloride) (CPVC).1.2 The properties included in this specification are those required for the compositions covered. Use the classification systemgiven in Section 4 to describe requirements necessary to identify particular characteristics important to specialized applications.1.3 This spe

5、cification allows for the use of regrind and recycled plastics as defined in Guide D7209 providing: productsproduced from regrind or recycled PVC material can be shown to meet the requirements of this standard with regard to materialclassification, physical performance, dimensions and workmanship; a

6、nd the regrind or recycled plastics used have not beensubjected to severe environments in post consumer applications (such as chemical service) which could adversely affect the endproducts performance when subjected to machining or critical applications or both.1.4 The values are stated in inch-poun

Classification and Material4.1 Product shape and size as defined in the applicable purchase order.4.2 This specification covers extruded product as listed in Tables S-PVC-I and S-PVC-II. Products included in the designationsreference Specification D1784 callou

20、ts where applicable.4.2.1 Categorize the type of poly(vinyl chloride), and chlorinated poly(vinyl chloride) shape product by type, grade, and classdepending on resin composition as defined in Table S-PVC-II.4.3 The type, class and grade is further differentiated based on dimensional stability (eleva

No separators are needed between type, class, and grade. When special notes are to be included, suchinformation

27、 shall be preceded by a comma. Special tolerances must be noted at time of order and are inserted after the grade inparenthesis and preceded by a comma.4.5.2.1 The material used in the manufacture of PVC and CPVC shapes intended for contact with or the transport of potablewater, or both, must be eva

28、luated and certified as safe for this purpose by a testing agency acceptable to the local health authority.The evaluation shall be in accordance with the requirements for chemical extraction, taste, and odor, that are no less restrictive thanthose included in the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF)

29、 Standard 61.5. Ordering Information5.1 All shapes covered by this specification shall be ordered using the proper callout designation (see 4.5).6. Physical Property Requirements6.1 The physical property values listed within this specifications tables are to be considered minimum specification value

30、s.Anyrequirement for specific test data for a given production lot shall be specified at the time of order. Use Table 1 to specify physicalproperties for extruded products not yet included in Table S-PVC-I or S-PVC-II.7. Dimensional Requirements7.1 The type, class, and grade is differentiated based

31、on dimensional stability (elevated temperature excursion test) as indicatedin Table S-PVC-II.7.2 Products shall be produced within the commercial tolerances and with the lowest stress levels for machined parts asdelineated in Table A.7.3 Tubular bar dimensions shall be supplied in the unfinished con

32、dition, unless otherwise specified at time of order, sufficientto finish to the nominal dimensions ordered.7.4 The maximum allowable camber at final inspection at the factory shall be within the limits referenced in Table A.8. Workmanship, Finish, and Appearance8.1 AppearanceThe resin material color

33、 for poly(vinyl chloride) shall be dark gray. The resin material color for chlorinatedpoly(vinyl chloride) shall be light gray. All shapes shall be uniform in color throughout the thickness. Specific colors and colormatching only as agreed to by order.8.1.1 It is possible that physical properties wi

34、ll be affected by other colors. Regardless of color, minimum properties of 4.4 mustbe met.8.2 FinishAll products shall be free of blisters, wrinkles, cracks, gouges and defects that restrict commercial use of theproduct. Special surface finish shall be supplied only when specified in the purchase or

35、der or contract.8.3 DefectsAll products shall be free of visual voids, dirt, foreign material and embedded particles exceeding 0.040 in. (1 mm)maximum diameter as defined in 8.3.18.3.1 The criteria for determining the cleanliness shall be external visual inspection.Amaximum number of two defects per

36、 onefoot length of rod and tubular bar are allowed. Clusters of defects less than 0.040 in. (1 mm) diameter are to be counted as a singledefect.8.4 Extrusion QualityProducts shall not flake or disintegrate when tested in accordance with the test method for degree offusion as defined in 12.6.9. Sampl

37、ing9.1 Sampling shall be statistically adequate to satisfy the requirements of this specification as applicable (seeANSI Z1.4-1993).9.2 For purposes of sampling, an inspection lot for examination and tests shall consist of all material of the same type, class,grade and nominal size submitted for ins

38、pection at one time.10. Number of Tests10.1 Routine lot inspection shall consist of all the criteria specified in the applicable product tables.D6263 15410.2 The criteria listed in these product tables and definitions are sufficient to establish conformity of the shape to thisspecification. When the

39、 number of test specimens is not stated in the test method, it is acceptable to make a single determination.If more than single determinations and separate portions of the same sample are made, the results shall be averaged. The final resultshall conform to the requirements prescribed in this specif

40、ication.11. Test Conditions11.1 Conditions of SpecimensThe specification values and dimensions are based on conditioning techniques outlined inProcedure A of Practice D61811.2 Standard TemperatureThe tests shall be conducted at the standard laboratory temperature of 73.4 6 3.6F (23(23.0 62C)2.0C) an

41、d 50 6 5 %10 % relative humidity.12. Test Methods12.1 Tensile stress at break, elongation at break, and tensile modulus (tangent) are in accordance with Test Method D638, atthe rate of 0.2 in. (5 mm)/min. Values obtained shall meet the requirements called out in Table S-PVC-I.12.1.1 All rod specimen

42、s are in accordance with Test Method D638.12.2 Dimensional Stability:12.2.1 Specimen Preparation (a Minimum of Three Test Samples Required):12.2.1.1 RodsPrepare each specimen by cutting a 1.5 in. (35 mm) long slice from the shape to be tested. Machine the sliceusing a coolant and good machining prac

43、tices to a length of 1.000 6 0.005 in. (25 6 0.13 mm). Each end of the specimen shallhave a machined surface.12.2.2 Testing ProcedureMeasure the outside diameter and thickness or length of the specimen as applicable at 73.4 6 1.8F(233.6F (23.0 6 1C)2.0C) to the nearest 0.0001 in. (0.025 mm). All mea

44、surements shall be done on the centerline. Also takemeasurements for thickness halfway to center and for diameter at mid-point.12.2.2.1 Place the specimen in a bath consisting of polyalkylene glycol or an air circulating oven heated to 250 6 5F (121 63C).After 6 h allow the specimen to slowly cool t

45、o room temperature at a rate not to exceed 40F (22C)/h. Measure the specimenat 73.4 6 3.6F (23 6 2C) and calculate the percent change in each dimension.12.2.3 ReproducibilityInterlaboratory reproducibility is being determined and will be added within one year. A precisionstatement will be finalized

46、and included within two years.12.3 Lengthwise Camber:12.3.1 Make all measurements for camber using the maximum distance rod deviates from the straight line extended from edgeto edge when measured in accordance with 12.3.2. The shape shall be oriented such that the weight of the product doesnt influe

47、ncethe results.12.3.2 Rod:12.3.2.1 RodLay each rod on its side and measure it with concave side facing a straight edge. Measure camber from thestraight edge to the maximum concave point on the rod. Camber shall not exceed the values of Table A.12.3.3 ReproducibilityInterlaboratory reproducibility is

A precisionstatement will be finalized and included within two years.12.4 Flexural modulus is in accordance with Test Method D790, specimen 140.25 in. (1.4 mm) thick maximum, testing speed0.11 in.
