Summary of Method4.1 The time of setting, initial and final, of a sample of fluidgrout is determined using the Vicat apparatus.5. Significance and Use5.1 This test method

7、 determines the setting time of groutmixed to the fluid consistency required for its use in PAconcrete.5.2 The time of setting is also useful in determining theacceptability of components of grout that must be mixed to thefluid consistency required for production of PA concrete.6. Apparatus6.1 Vicat

8、 Apparatus, in accordance with Test Method C191.6.2 Moist Room, maintained in accordance with Specifica-tion C511.7. Test Sample7.1 The test sample shall consist of at least 300 mL of grouttaken from a freshly-mixed batch prepared in accordance withPractice C938 obtained from a mixer at the laborato

9、ry orconstruction site.8. Procedure8.1 Warm the Vicat conical ring and base plate to approxi-mately 100 C.8.2 Apply a thin film of paraffin wax to the base of theconical ring and place the waxed conical ring on the base plate.Place a weight on the conical ring to ensure intimate contactwith the base

10、 plate and allow the conical ring and plate to coolto room temperature.8.3 Fill the conical ring apparatus with grout flush with itstop within 2 min after completion of mixing. Strike off thegrout flush with the top of the conical ring by a single obliquestroke of a sharp-edged trowel held at a slig

11、ht angle to the topof the ring. Smooth the top, if necessary, with a few lighttouches of the pointed end of the trowel. Take care not tocompress the sample during these cutting and smoothingoperations. The time of completion of molding shall be takenas the start of measurement of time of set.8.4 Sto

12、re the specimen in the moist room.8.5 Determine the time of setting using the proceduredescribed in Test Method C191 except that the first readingshall be taken 3 h 6 15 min after pouring the specimen.NOTE 1Grouts used to evaluate grout fluidifier or for use in PAconcrete will normally reach initial
