Scope1.1 This guide provides information to manufacturers forthe development of a loose-fill thermal insulat
3、ion productcoverage chart. This guide is limited to developing a coveragechart from density versus thickness, apparent thermal conduc-tivity versus density, and thickness versus area mass relation-ships obtained through product testing.1.2 This guide applies to a wide variety of loose-fill thermalin
4、sulation products including mineral fiber (SpecificationC764), or cellulosic fiber (Specification C739) materials;granular types including vermiculite (Specification C516) andperlite (Specification C549); pelletized products; and any otherinsulation materials that are installed pneumatically or pour
5、edin place.1.3 Coverage charts for loose-fill insulation products arerequired by regulation under the United States Federal TradeCommissions 16 CFR Part 460. Other countries or localgoverning agencies may have coverage chart requirements inaddition to, or that differ from, those presented in this gu
6、ide;see the Appendix for examples.1.4 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regardedas standard. The values given in parentheses are mathematicalconversions to SI units that are provided for information onlyand are not considered standard.1.5 This standard does not purport to address all o

Summary of Guide4.1 This guide provides several procedures for use indeveloping loose-fill product coverage chart values from test-derived, best-fit settled density versus
16、 settled thickness, appar-ent thermal conductivity versus density, and installed thicknessversus mass per unit area relationships. The settled densityversus settled thickness relationship is determined using long-term aging studies or other methods as identified in the materialstandard. The apparent
17、 thermal conductivity relationship is aresult from calculations within Practice C687. The installedthickness versus mass per unit area is determined from TestMethod C1374, Guide C1574, or other procedures as identifiedin the material standard.NOTE 1Initial installed thickness is a coverage chart col
18、umn require-ment of the United States Federal Trade Commission 16 CFR Part 460,Labeling and Advertising of Home Insulation, revised and issued in 2005(Home Insulation Labeling Rule). The values listed are to be derived usingTest Method C1374.5. Significance and Use5.1 Coverage charts list the requir
19、ed installed and productin-service parameters of minimum thickness, maximum netcoverage per package, and minimum mass per unit area toachieve each listed thermal performance (R-value) level. Chartinformation corresponds to numerous standard R-value levelsrepresenting common building codes, industry
20、standards, orlegislated requirements (see example in the Appendix X1) andtherefore additional chart columns may be required, that is,number of packages per 1 000 ft2(100m2), and initial installedthickness.5.2 This guide applies to coverage charts for installations inopen, horizontal attic floor spac
