Scope1.1 This specification2covers two types of 214 Cr-1 Mo andthree types of Cr-Mo-V alloy steel plates for use in thequenched-and-tempered condition, intended for the fabricationof welded pressure vessels and components.1.2 Material under this specificat
4、ion is available in fivetypes, designated “A,” “B,” “C,” “D,” and “E.” Type B isidentical to Type A except for restrictive limits for carbon,phosphorus, sulfur, and nickel. The material is also available infive classes having the following strength levels. Type E isavailable only as Class 4 and 4a.C
5、lass Minimum Tensile Strength, ksi MPa1 105 7252 115 7953 95 6554 and 4a 85 5851.3 The maximum thickness of plates is limited only by thecapacity of the chemical composition to meet the specifiedmechanical property requirements.1.4 The minimum thickness of plates is limited to316 in. 5mm.1.5 The mat
6、erial is intended to be suitable for fusionwelding. Welding technique is of fundamental importance andit is presupposed that welding procedures will be in accordancewith approved methods.1.6 The values stated in either inch-pound units or SI unitsare to be regarded separately as standard. Within the
7、 text, theSI units are shown in brackets. The values stated in eachsystem are not exact equivalents, therefore, each system mustbe used independently of the other. General Requirements and Ordering Information3.1 Material supplied to this material specification shallconform to Specification A 20/A 20M. These requirement
10、soutline the testing and retesting methods and procedures,permissible variations in dimensions, and mass, quality andrepair of defects, marking, loading, etc.3.2 Specification A 20/A 20M also establishes the rules forthe ordering information which should be complied with whenpurchasing material to t
11、his specification.3.3 In addition to the basic requirements of this specifica-tion, certain supplementary requirements are available whenadditional control, testing, or examination is required to meetend use requirements. These include:3.3.1 Vacuum treatment,3.3.2 Additional or special tension testi

16、fication shall prevail.4. Manufacture4.1 Steelmaking PracticeThe steel shall be killed andshall conform to the fine austenitic grain size requirement ofSpecification A 20/A 20M.5. Heat Treatment5.1 All plates shall be heat treated by heating to a suitableaustenitizing temperature, holding for a suff
17、icient period oftime to attain uniform temperature throughout the thickness,and quenching in a suitable liquid medium by spraying orimmersion. For Type D material, the minimum austenitizingtemperature shall be 1650F 900C. For Type E material, theminimum austenitizing temperature shall be 1850F 1010C
18、.5.2 After quenching, the plates shall be tempered to producethe specified tensile requirements by heating to a suitabletemperature and holding for a period of time of not less that 30min/in. 1.2 min/mm of thickness but not less than12 h. Theminimum tempering temperature shall be as follows:Type Cla
19、ss Temperature, F CA, B, C 1, 2, 3 1050 565A, B, C 4 1200 650A, B, C, D 4a 1250 6755.3 Plates over 4 in. 100 mm in thickness shall receive aprior heat treatment of normalizing at, or water quenchingfrom, a temperature within the range from 1650 to 1850F 900to 1010C for TypesA, B, C, and D and 1850 t
20、o 2050F 1010to 1120C for Type E before the heat treatment specified in5.1.5.4 When the purchaser elects to perform the heat treatmentrequired above, the material manufacturer shall temper theplates prior to shipment at a temperature not lower than 1050F565C for Types A, B, C, and D and not lower tha
21、n 1200F650C for Type E.6. Chemical Composition6.1 The steel shall conform to the chemical requirementsshown in Table 1.7. Mechanical Properties7.1 Tension Test Requirements:7.1.1 The material as represented by the tension-test speci-mens shall conform to the requirements shown in Table 2.7.1.2 For n
22、ominal plate thicknesses of34 in. 20 mm andunder, the 112-in. 40-mm wide rectangular specimen may beused for the tension test, and the elongation may be determinedin a 2-in. 50-mm gage length that includes the fracture andthat shows the greatest elongation.7.2 Notch Toughness RequirementsClasses 4 a
23、nd 4a:7.2.1 A transverse Charpy V-notch test from each plate-as-heat-treated shall have a minimum energy absorption value of40 ftlbf 54 J average of three specimens and 35 ftlbf 48 Jfor one specimen only in the set.7.2.2 For Class 4, the impact test temperature shall be asspecified on the order.7.2.
