It is intended to providebackground information only.ASSE standards are developed in the interest of protecting the health of the public.ASSE recognizes that many floor drains installed within buildings are rarely used. Withoutperiodic use floor drain plumbing
6、-code-required water trap seals will eventually fail due toevaporation. Potentially objectionable and hazardous sewer gases may then escape into thebuilding through the ineffective trap. The model plumbing codes require that floor drain trap seals that are subject to evaporationare be provided with a
7、 method that offsets evaporation. Currently there is one approvedmethod. The method provides a periodic automatic admission of water directly into the floordrain - such as a trap primer. This new ASSE Standard #1072 introduces an alternative method of protecting floor drainwater trap seals - Barrier-
