9、er a review process, identifyinga guideline for the design, testing, application, or evaluation of a specific product, concept, or practice. As a guideline it is not definitive butencompasses areas where there may be a variety of approaches, none of which must be precisely correct. ASHRAE Guidelines
10、 are writtento assist professionals in the area of concern and expertise of ASHRAEs Technical Committees and Task Groups.ASHRAE Guidelines are prepared by project committees appointed specifically for the purpose of writing Guidelines. The projectcommittee chair and vice-chair must be members of ASH
11、RAE; while other committee members may or may not be ASHRAE members, allmust be technically qualified in the subject area of the Guideline.Development of ASHRAE Guidelines follows procedures similar to those for ASHRAE Standards except that (a) committee balance isdesired but not required, (b) an ef
12、fort is made to achieve consensus but consensus is not required, (c) Guidelines are not appealable, and(d) Guidelines are not submitted to ANSI for approval.The Manager of Standards of ASHRAE should be contacted for:a. interpretation of the contents of this Guideline,b. participation in the next rev

19、The Commissioning Team uses a variety ofmethods and tools to verify that a project is achieving theOwners Project Requirements (OPR), including coderequirements and inspections of the authority having juris-diction (AHJ) throughout the delivery of the project.Commissioning Process procedures and req
20、uirementsare fully covered in ASHRAE Guideline 0, The Commission-ing Process.1That document provides adequate guidance forimplementing the Commissioning Process for all buildingsmoke control assemblies and systemsfor both new andexisting buildings.To further assist owners; design teams; Commissionin
21、gProcess teams; contractors; and building/facility engineer-ing, operations, and maintenance teams or staff, a number ofsupporting commissioning (Cx) process technical guidelineshave been developed or are under development. This partic-ular guideline provides specific guidance on applying theCommiss
22、ioning Process to smoke control systems in build-ings and facilities.The following is a brief overview of the CommissioningProcess as described in Guideline 0.The Commissioning Process assumes that owners; facil-ity programmers; designers; contractors; and building engi-neering, operations, and main
23、tenance (EOM) entities arefully accountable for the quality of their work. For example,the contractor is responsible for fully constructing and test-ing the systems and ensuring that his/her employees workhas provided the level of quality expected. The Cx of smokecontrol systems requires a 100% veri
24、fication of system com-ponent installation and functional performance.The Commissioning Process begins at project inception(during the Predesign Phase) and continues for the life of afacility (through the Occupancy/Operations Phase). TheCommissioning Process includes specific tasks to be con-ducted
